Aldridge, Donald G. age 87, of Hamburg, NJ formally of Pound Ridge, NY died Thursday, February 5, 2015 after a brief illness.  Mr. Aldridge was born June 25, 1927 in St. Alban’s, Queens, NY; the oldest son of the late William F. and Kathleen (Delaney) Aldridge.

He served in the US Navy.

Mr. Aldridge was a senior executive officer of several Maritime shipping lines.  He is survived by his companion, Christine Clavin, two daughters: Jean McLaughlin and Lynn D’Antonio, three sons: Edward, Robert and Stephen Aldridge, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from   3-5 and 7-9pm.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10am at St .Patricks RC Church, 7 Pound Ridge Road, Bedford Village, NY.  Interment will follow at Pound Ridge Cemetery, Pound Ridge.

Alfano, Lawrence, of Somers, NY, died On February 10th.
He was born in the Bronx, NY, to Luigi and Nancy Alfano.
He received his BA and MA from Western CT State University.
Lawrence was a Business Manager for Westchester County for over 35 years.
He volunteered preparing taxes for Seniors, and was a Scout Master in Yorktown Heights. He was a licensed Ham Radio operator and loved to paint.
Lawrence is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years: Joan Alfano; his loving children, Michael (Eileen) and Diane Nolan and his precious granddaughter, Amy and her father: Kevin Nolan. He is the brother of Carmela Burriesci and Angela Alfano and the late Louis Alfano, Jr. and Ralph “Sonny” Alfano.

RITA YOLANDA ANCE

Ance, Rita Yolanda of Heritage Hills in Somers, NY, died peacefully in her home on December 26, 2015.  Rita was born on March 3, 1928 in Morgantown, WV to the late Antonio and Victoria (Branca) Giordano, the youngest of 9 children.

Rita grew up on Beach Avenue in the Bronx and graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor’s in Art History.  She taught Business Education at Carmel High School for over 20 years, where she touched the lives of many, and made lifelong friends.  For much of her life Rita was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake, NY.  Most recently she was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, enjoyed bible study, the Right to Life and her prayer community.  She embraced being part of the many activities and clubs at Heritage Hills, and cherished all the wonderful friendships she made along the way. Rita will be remembered for her unconditional love to her family, unwavering faith, and a truly kind and giving heart.

Rita is survived by three loving daughters, Carole and her husband Ken, Julie and her husband Rudi and Barbara, her six grandchildren, Kathryne, Madeline, Michael, Melissa, Alexa and Emily, her brother Guy Giordano and his wife Marie, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her husband, Edward Ance, the love of her life, six brothers and one sister, all of whom she loved dearly.

Axelrod, Henrietta C., 92, of Somers, NY, formerly of Scarsdale, died Thursday April 16, 2015 at home.  Henrietta was born in New York on June 2, 1922 to the late Rose and George Chooluck. She was a graduate of Hunter College and taught many years at the Grace Dodge Vocational High School in the Bronx, retiring in 1984. Henrietta was a very active member of the Heritage Hills community and served as the President of the Heritage Hills Concert Society for several years, helping to bring world class concert performances by numerous outstanding performers to the Heritage concert hall. She was also an avid bridge player, playing her last game with dear friends on the Sunday before her passing.

Henrietta was the wife of the late Albert Axelrod who preceded her in death on February 24, 2004. She leaves her children Michael (Patricia) of Westbrook, CT,  and Stephanie (Andrew) Keegan of Somers, NY.She was the loving grandmother of Daniel Keegan of Fayetteville, NC, Brian Keegan of Bronx, NY, and Peter Keegan of Somers,NY.

Bauer, Henry W. Jr., “Hank” a longtime resident of South Salem, NY, died on September 13th.

Hank was born in The Bronx on Nov. 25, 1925 to Henry Sr. and Anna Bauer.

He was a US Navy veteran in WWII and served in the Pacific Theatre.

Hank was a Regional Sales Manager for Multi-Metal in Tappan, NY for many years.

He was a life member of the South Salem Fire Department where he was also Past Treasurer and Headquarters Captain and served as Santa Claus for many years.

He was a member of the Westchester Co. Fire Chiefs Association, South Salem Fish and Game Assoc., Lewisboro Seniors, German-American Club of Stamford, CT and the NRA.  He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and loved bowling and golf.

Hank was the beloved husband of the late Olga and he is the loving father of Bruce of Brewster, NY and Patti DeLapa of South Salem and father-in-law of Antonietta. He is the devoted grandfather of John, Christina, Elisa, Tara and Melissa.

The family will receive friends on Wed. September 16th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Thurs. September 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

Baumgartner, Clara  age 95, died Friday, October 16, 2015 at The Amsterdam of Port Washington, NY.  Mrs. Baumgartner was born September 20, 1920 in Hamroth, Romainia . She is the daughter of the late Anton and Rosa (Koch) Sieber. She was predeceased by her husband, Wendel and her son, Wendel Baumgartner, Jr.

She was employed by DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx, NY as a Cafeteria Worker.

Clara is survived by her son: Paul and Elizabeth Baumgartner and their daughter, Heidi; Wendel Jr.’s children: Carol and Thomas; great grandchildren: Tyler, Lacie and Samantha and great great grandchildren: Ashley and Sam.

Bell, Janet White  61, of Sacramento, California passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2014.  Janet was born on July 20, 1953 in New York City to the late  John and Virginia White and was raised in Yorktown Heights. She was the beloved sister of John White (Carol) of North Salem NY and Gerry Werk of Valencia, CA.

She was a loving aunt to Jennifer Kane and William Werk, great aunt to Aiden and Peyton Kane, stepmother to Jennifer Sundeen and Jason Bell, and “Grand Jan” to Kaitlin, Kellie and Kirsten Sundeen.

Janet graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1975 and worked for several years at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) as the Assistant Registrar.  In 1994 she joined National Evaluation Systems and subsequently moved to Sacramento to head up the company’s operations in California.  Her responsibilities grew as NES was purchased by Pearson Evaluation Systems, and at the time of her retirement in 2014 she was the Managing Director of Scoring and Regional Offices nationwide.

Janet’s quick wit, engaging personality, easy going competence, and sincere interest in others, endeared her to all.

Beusman, Curtis, 84, of Mount Kisco, NY, died on May 19th. Curt was born in Chicago, IL, May 10, 1931.

Biondi, Fred , age 90, of Somers died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Northern Westchester Hospital of Mount Kisco, NY.  Mr. Biondi was born April 10, 1924 in Bronx, NY. He is the son of the late Manfred and Sadie (D’Antonio) Biondi.

He served in the Navy during World War II.  He was employed by Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Bronx & Yonkers, NY as a Grocery Clerk.

Fred is survived by his wife of 68 years: Anna (Palomba) Biondi and a daughter: Linda Marano; a son, Fred (Karen) Biondi; grandchildren: Michael (Josephine), DonnaLyn and Joseph Biondi; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Joseph and John Biondi, cousin Jack (Loretta) D’Antonio as well as sisters-in-law Olga Vacarello (Chris) and Marian Palomba and several nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by his daughter, Joanne; nephew, Christopher, his brother, James Biondi (Louise) and sister, Joan Biondi-Barker (Ron), brothers-in-law John (Kathryn) and Lou Palomba, sisters-in-law, Josephine Ragland (Tom) and Maria Palomba.

Edith E. Bishop, of Somers died at age 87 on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.  She was born in Westhampton, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Howell) Bishop.  Educated in Westhampton and Manhattan, she enjoyed a career of nearly 40 years with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

Edith was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Katonah, where she served as an elder and a deacon.

Edith is survived by a brother, Lester of Mesa, AZ, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters: Shirley Hollingsworth and Ellenor Hann and a brother, Gerard Bishop.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on November 14, 2015 at The First Presbyterian Church of Katonah, 31 Bedford Road, Katonah, NY.  Interment was held at the Westhampton Cemetery on October 30, 2015.

Boone, Elizabeth A.  died on January 30, 2015 peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95.  She was born June 17, 1919 in Binghamton, NY to Hilda Coughtry Anderson and Carl Anderson.   She resided for 55 years in Pound Ridge NY, where she was on the Conservation Board for 14 years, and serving as Chairman for 4 years.  She was past President of the Friends of the Trailside organization at the Pound Ridge Reservation and served on their board for years.  She served as a trustee of the Nature Conservancy and was an overseer for Carolyn’s Grove. She was a past President of the Basket Town Garden Club and was active in the Pound Ridge Garden Club for too many years to count.  She was dedicated to conservation and gardening, as well as being an advocate for many other environmental causes, including helping to draft the Pound Ridge Tree Ordinance, serving on the Pound Ridge Recycling Board, and throughout her life advocating for wildlife and plant preservation, as well as animal protection.  She helped establish the Boone Trail in the Pound Ridge Reservation in honor of her husband.

She was a nursery school teacher in Bedford Village for many years and up until her death, still received cards and letters from former pupils.  Before her marriage to Clinton Cowperthwaite Boone, she served as secretary to Evangeline Booth of the Salvation Army, and was active in the USO during World War II.  She is pre-deceased by her husband in 1981, and is survived by her two children Jefferson Boone (Marianne Moore) of Allston, Ma. and her daughter Deborah (Stewart) Tepper of Chesterland, Ohio and Chatham, Ma., as well as six grandchildren, Clinton (Katharine) Tepper, Samuel Tepper, Anderson Boone, Harrison Boone, Madison Boone, and Emerson Boone.

The Memorial Service will be celebrated on February 6th at 11:00 am at Pound Ridge Community Church,3 Pound Ridge Road, Pound Ridge 10576 with Rev. Karen Burger officiating.  Interment will be at Pound Ridge Cemetery, West Lane, Pound Ridge, NY 10576.

Robert R. Branson, age 85, of Somers died Monday, November 2, 2015 at Somers Manor Nursing Home.  Bob was born May 4, 1930 in Davenport, IA. He is the son of the late Harry R. and Margaret (Lage) Branson.

Bob graduated from Davenport High School and graduated from Depauw University

Bob was a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Readers Digest, Pleasantville, NY as an Associate Director for the International Marketing Administration.

Bob is survived by his cousins: Lynn Bish of Weirton, WV and Jack Risher of Toledo, OH., the Lage family and all of his good friends from the Heritage Hills Travel Club.

Brosmith, Berthold A. (“Bert”)  a founder of the Sarasota School of Architecture, died on January 23.

Mr. Brosmith, born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1928 to Allan and Georgette (Comeau) Brosmith, was 86, and a longtime resident of Pound Ridge, NY.

With an inquisitive mind and a gifted eye, Mr. Brosmith’s life was rich in creativity and intellectualism, evidenced by an architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Fulbright Scholarship to The University of London, and a lifetime of renowned architectural design.

His first artistic foray was a tour of duty with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Japan in 1946, where, despite a lack of formal training, he served as photographer, once assigned to take pictures of General Douglas MacArthur.  Mr. Brosmith and his Hasselblad camera spent a lifetime carefully chronicling weddings, anniversaries and family milestones.

After his Fulbright fellowship in London, Mr. Brosmith co-authored a book entitled “London—An Urban Framework,” before assuming responsibility for the Sarasota, Florida office of famed architect Paul Rudolph.

In his first assignment under Rudolph, Brosmith created the “Family of Man” exhibition, which was featured at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Brosmith’s work transformed Sarasota through myriad projects including schools, office buildings, a juvenile detention center and residential homes, some in the Saratoga School of Architecture (also called Sarasota Modern) style which he’d help define. He founded his own firm in Sarasota in 1963.

In 1961, Mr. Brosmith met Catharina Boman, a Pan Am flight attendant. The two married, and had three children—Kevin, Sean and Karina.

After working on a project with noted architect I.P. Pei, Yale University invited Mr. Brosmith to the position of Visiting Design Critic.

The Brosmiths moved to New York, where Mr. Brosmith joined the firm Perkins and Will in White Plains, NY, before founding Juster, Brosmith, Levine Architects in New York City.

In 1978, Mr. Brosmith founded Bert Brosmith Architecture in Pound Ridge, NY, where he continued to work—largely on residential projects throughout Westchester County—until 2012.

Aside from his far-reaching imprint on the world of architecture, Mr. Brosmith will be remembered for his love of education. He insisted his children study hard, rationing their television time in favor of time with books. Upon return from work, he often checked the temperature on the back of the television—if his hand got warm, it meant his children were slacking.

Mr. Brosmith also served as an unofficial matchmaker between hundreds of Pound Ridge’s college-bound students and a host of colleges and universities. With a keen sense of which school best matched a particular student, he also wrote countless heartfelt letters of recommendation.

A devout Roman Catholic, Mr. Brosmith loved to translate the Mass into Latin in his head.

Mr. Brosmith was a scratch golfer, honing skills at Sarasota’s Sara Bay Country Club that would serve him well into his seventies.

Mr. Brosmith’s deepest and most important legacy, however, is his family. He and his wife, Catharina, celebrated 53 years of marriage in December.

The couple’s three children – Kevin, Sean and Karina were shaped and influenced by their father in countless ways, and have, in turn, ensured continuation of his legacy through eight grandchildren. Mr. Brosmith is survived by his wife, Catharina of Bethel, CT; Kevin and Mary Brosmith of Natick, MA; Sean and Hsiu-Yen Brosmith of Beverly Hills, CA and Karina (Early) and her husband, Patrick, of Chelmsford, MA.  Mr. Brosmith is the treasured grandfather of Kaitlin, Kevin II, Elin, Pia, Kieran, Liam, Meghan and Mikayla.

Brylo, Helen E. age 92, of Somers died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Somers Manor Nursing Home.  Helen was born September 6, 1923 in Greenwich, CT. She is the daughter of the late Andrew and Victoria (Zavada) Anton.  She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Brylo on 1981.  She was School Cook employed by Yonkers Public School System, Yonkers, NY.

Helen is survived by her beloved daughter: Barbara Murphy of Somers, NY; cherished grandmother of Jude Michael Murphy, Marina Murphy, Anastasia Murphy; and Zane Murphy; and loving aunt of Pauline Grabowski, Carol Anton and Beverly LaRocca.

Carlacci, Marguerite (nee Tomassi), 84, a longtime resident of Bedford Hills, NY, died on March 14th.

Marguerite was born in Bridgeport, CT. on July 30, 1930

She was a secretary for the Bedford Central School District for many years. She was a dedicated homemaker and her greatest love was her family.

Marguerite is the beloved wife for 48 years of Michael Carlacci, Sr.; she is the loving mother of Dante, Michael, Lynda, and Margie, mother-in-law of Elsy Carlacci, Shane Carlacci, Tom Stasiak and George Schrade. Devoted grandmother of Brittany, Angela, Marissa, James, Michael, Thomas, Brendan, Amanda, Melanie, Brandon, Griffin and Mathew.

Claude, Elizabeth James universally known as “Libba,” died peacefully at home on October 31, 2015 after a valiant three year battle with lung cancer.  Her beloved husband, Abram Claude, Jr. was by her side. Libba was born in Greenville, NC on January 21,1936 and is the daughter of Judge Dink James and Carolyn Fullilove James. A southern girl at heart, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before moving to New York City.  There she worked briefly on Wall Street before marrying Robert D. Thorson, with whom she had four children: Carolyn, Virginia, Martha and Robert, Jr. She was tragically widowed in 1969.  In 1972 Libba married Abe and together they were long-time residents of Bedford, NY before retiring to their home in North Salem.  Libba is also survived by six fabulous grandchildren.  A force in any community in which she lived Libba was active locally and regionally in many not-for-profit organizations.  For more than 20 years she served as a board member for East Side House Settlement, where she was the exhibitors chairman of the world renowned Winter Antique Show, held in the 7th Regiment Armory in New York City. Libba also ran the opening night gala for that major cultural event. She preformed the same function for the Art Dealer’s Association when they initiated a major exhibition at the 7th Regiment Armory. Libba also managed and/or was deeply involved in numerous events at the Bedford Rippowam Cisqua School and her very much loved St. Matthew’s Church. She also volunteered for more than 13 years at Northern Westchester Hospital, pushing the “book cart” room-to-room in an effort to spread her passion for reading to the sick. Libba’s most important life work, however, was for the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, the largest such prison in New York State. For more than 15 years Libba devoted herself to helping the women keep in constructive, positive contact with their children by serving as the liaison between the inmates, their children, social workers, teachers, foster parents.  She did this all while handling the many problems the children faced that their mothers could not address while incarcerated. Libba single-handedly raised substantial monies to build an impressive garden and playground complex at the prison where the mothers and their children could be together in a tranquil and beautiful place, rather than in the sterile atmosphere of the prison’s visiting room. She personally designed and tirelessly cared for the garden section there as well. For her work at Bedford Hills she was honored by Catholic Charities with the esteemed Volunteer of the Year Award and received similar recognition from the Women’s Prison Association. Most of all, Libba’s greatest joy was being a devoted, loving wife and mother, and friend to her many, many friends of all ages. Corde, George E. , age 82, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at home in South Salem. He was born and raised in Rockaway Beach, N.Y., the youngest of Raymond’s and Dorothy’s seven children, where he met the love of his life, Joan Proscia, just off the boardwalk. They were married in 1956 and raised five children as life took them from Rockaway to North Bellmore and Chappaqua, NY.

George worked his entire career in insurance brokerage, notably catching on with Parker & Company in 1962. He made his mark developing new business, particularly among large aviation clients. He joined Frank B. Hall & Co. upon its acquisition of Parker in 1970, moving to FBH’s headquarters in Briarcliff Manor, in 1974. He was FBH’s Executive Vice President and best known for forming its renowned Hall Services Division, which designed and managed placements for FBH’s largest national clients. He also helped establish and lead FBH’s captive insurance operations in Bermuda and its aviation insurance businesses. In 1988 George joined Aon in Chicago as Executive Vice President of its brokerage operations and helped build the company into the world’s second largest insurance brokerage. George was an officer and director of several of the company’s boards, including the Bermuda and UK operations.

In 1997, George gladly put the business world behind him to spend as much time as possible with Joan, who had been diagnosed with leukemia. He was Joan’s rock during treatment, and brought her back to the beach at a second home in Stone Harbor, NJ. As treatment allowed, and then during a blessed period of remission, they spent their time traveling and doing what they enjoyed most, being with their children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends, both at the beach and at their northern outpost in Ridgefield, CT. Sadly, Joan died in 2004. With a hole in his heart and a constant smile, he continued to support, nurture encourage and inspire their family.

George proudly served in the Army from 1953-1955. He was an avid golfer and member of Sleepy Hollow Country Club. He generously introduced Joan, their children and grandchildren to the sport, and played with a men’s group in Stone Harbor when he left SHCC. He jogged 4 miles a day into his late 70s, when illness slowed him to biking and walking, which he did until the month before he died. He loved to entertain. He loved life and living it. Above all, he loved, and was loved by his family. He was affectionately known to all as Crunch, The Cruncher, and even Crunchie, a nickname that came to mean much more than the prank on a neighborhood kid it started out as.

George was predeceased by his wife Joan in 2004 and, tragically, grandchildren Trevor and Alicia. He is survived by his sons George, Richard, Daniel and Gary, and daughter Angela; their spouses Meg, Debbie, Zoraya, Malia and Kevin; and, 17 grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Monday, July 6 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and on Tuesday, July 7 from 10-12am, at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah, NY. Cox, Lloyd Bedford Jr., 85, a former long time resident of Bedford and retired President of Lloyd Bedford Cox, Inc.,  passed away peacefully on May 2, 2015 at Meadow Ridge in Redding, Connecticut. Mr. Cox was born on February 15, 1930, the son of the late Lloyd Bedford Cox, Sr. and Martha Hoyt Cox of Bedford Hills. He married Eleanor Jeffers Cox on August 10, 1957 in Syracuse. They moved from Bedford to Redding, CT in 2008.

Mr. Cox graduated from Bedford Hills High School and from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY in 1952. After college, he joined his father at Lloyd Bedford Cox, Inc., now a third generation insurance brokerage firm in Bedford Hills and New York City, and retired as its President in 2000.

Lloyd Cox received an Alumni Citation in Business from St. Lawrence University in 1978 and was elected Trustee Emeritus in 2000. He was a trustee of John Jay Homestead and was honored to receive the Friends of John Jay Founders Award in 2008. Lloyd was President of the Bedford Historical Society for 10 years and named Director Emeritus in 2001. He was Chairman of the 1987 Bedford Court House Celebration, Vice Chairman of the 1980 Bedford Tri-Centennial and Chairman of the Town of Bedford Board of Assessment Review.

Lloyd held leadership roles in many organizations including President of Bedford Hills Lions Club, Bedford Hills Chamber of Commerce and the Insurance Agents of Westchester County. He was an Elder in Bedford Presbyterian Church, a founder of Northern Westchester Shelter for Domestic Violence, a member of Random Choristers II, St. Matthews Church, Bedford Golf and Tennis Club and Chowder and Marching Club. He was known as a connector of people and a friend of all.

Mr. Cox is survived by his loving family: his wife, Eleanor of Redding, CT; a sister, Martha C. Wright of Basking Ridge, NJ; a daughter, Betsy Murphy (Paul) of Long Valley, NJ; two sons, Lloyd Cox, III (Tori) of Katonah and J. Jeffers Cox (Mary) of Bedford; four grandchildren: Brian and Sarah Cox of Bedford and Dylan and Tyler Cox of Katonah.

Curran, Robert F. , age 92, of Bedford, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Northern Westchester Hospital of Mount Kisco, NY. He is the son of the late Daniel and Marion (Costello) Curran. He was born in Boston, MA, attended Boston schools and graduated from Northeastern University with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business.

He served during WWII in the Army Air Corps in the China Burma India theatre earning a Distinguished Flying Cross and retiring as a Major USAF. He was employed by Monsanto, Ott Chemical, and ended his career at Ciba-Geigy as Director of the Corporate Environmental Audit Program.  He was recognized as a Diplomate by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Deady) Curran, daughter Christine (Keith) Williams, sons Robert Jr. (Mary), and Gregory (Margot), and seven grandchildren.

Devey, Donald Peter 11/15/1934 – 10/05/2015 of Somers, NY a former longtime resident of Katonah, NY.

Don Devey was an ordinary man, who has done extraordinary things.  An obituary captures statistics, a life of quiet accomplishment is sometimes only captured in the memory of loved ones. Don approached life with wit, humor and a sparkle in his eye.

The son of George and Dorothy (Lyons) Devey, Don was born in his parent’s house in the Elmhurst section of Queens in 1934.   It was also in Elmhurst, where he met the love of his life, Ellen Brett, when their mothers were chatting (Ellen still in the womb).  They have had a fabulous marriage that has thrived for 59 years.

Don attended Bishop Laughlin High School where he was very active on the track and cross-country teams.  He earned a BA from Manhattan College where he majored in Labor Relations and his fraternity, Sigma Beta Kappa and those brothers were very important to him.  The fraternity had a motto which he embraced in his everyday life “Esse Quam Videri”;  “to be, rather than seem to be”.  He also earned an MBA from New York University.

He was married to Ellen soon after graduation from Manhattan, and by the end of the following year had their first child, a boy, then another boy, boy, boy, Girl, boy and at last another boy. Within the space of ten years the Devey family measured 9 strong.

Don worked all his life; he worked to support his family, he worked for social justice and sometimes was able to combine the two goals. He started his career at Western Electric, moved to S.R.A. and spent 28 years at IBM.  At IBM he did many things. He led programs for the “hard core” unemployed and he helped to architect many national privacy policies.  He spoke before committees of Congress, developed the career paths of IBM executives and championed the IBM program for Equal Opportunity.

In his personal life, Don was president of the Northern Westchester Council on Equality (NEWCOE).  He was a member of the St. Mary’s Parish Council several times and a Lector at Saint Matthias Church in Bedford Hills where his voice could be heard booming for over 30years.  He joined a prison focused ministry, Anti-Violence Programs (AVP), leading a series of sessions.  After retirement he was a consultant for the National Executive Service Corps (NESC) and lent his skills to the Yonkers and White Plains school districts as well as individual not for profits.  He was the Affordable Housing Chairman for the Town of Bedford, the President of the Blue Mountain Housing Corporation. Don was also one of the founders of what is now known as the Community Center of Northern Westchester, where he loved bagging food for the customers. He was awarded the Schaeffer Award by the Katonah Rotary. He was the Knights of Columbus “Man of the Year” recipient.

Don is pre-deceased by his brother Roger, his son Christopher and his grandson Eric.  He is survived by his loving wife Ellen, and revered by all those who had the pleasure to meet him and the countless lives that he has touched. Don leaves behind his six children.

DiGiovanni, Barbara M. age 64, of Poughquag, NY passed away on December 20, 2015 at her mother’s home in Katonah, NY.  Barbara was born in New Rochelle, NY to her parents Anita Marrone (Margiotta) and George Marrone. She was predeceased by her husband Louis DiGiovanni and her father.  Barbara graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended the College of New Rochelle.  She was an administrative assistant at the Law Firm of Pierson, Reilly and LeMoult in Darien, CT.  She was the loving mother to her cherished son Christopher DiGiovanni, the light of her life. Barbara was born with a kind, beautiful heart and a special gift to bring joy and happiness to all those who knew her. Donahue, C. Richard of North Salem, N.Y. formerly of Albany, N.Y. died December 30^th, 2015 at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was born on November 1, 1931 to Clarence R and Julia L (Carroll) Donahue. He was predeceased by brother, Thomas and sisters, Mary Audrey and Helen. Dick received a MSW in Social Work from NYU; MS in Special Education from Columbia University and a BA from Siena College. He served with the rank of Captain in the US Army Medical Corps.  He was appointed as a social worker on the faculty of Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES, 1964-1995. He served as Past President of the New York State School Social Workers Assn. and also as a representative of the World Federation of Mental Health to a UN NGO. Dick also volunteered his professional skills on behalf of the American Red Cross at emergencies in Westchester. He loved reading, music and photography. Dick is the cherished husband of Therese (nee Murray) and the loving father of Elizabeth of New York City and Michael of New Rochelle, NY.  He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Erlanger, Joseph M., 54, of Katonah, NY, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his home.

Joe is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Ann, children: Kerry, Joseph, Molly, Jack and Jill, sisters: Betty, Theresa and Mary, brother: Frank, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Joe was born in Bronx, NY in 1960 to Mary and Joseph Erlanger.  The son of working-class parents, he received a scholarship to St. Francis College in Brooklyn, and worked tirelessly to obtain a secure future for his family. He married Mary Ann Wills in 1984, and together they raised their family – first in Montclair, New Jersey, then in Germany, where Joe’s work brought them, and later in Joe’s beloved Katonah.

Working as Director, North American Head of Securitized Markets Product Control and Broker-Dealer Regulatory Reporting at Citibank for over 16 years, Joe was a trusted and dedicated employee, as well as a loyal friend to many of his colleagues.  He contributed greatly to the community of Katonah, through his 10 years as a member of the Katonah Volunteer Ambulance Corps and his participation in the Katonah Men’s Club.  A man of faith, he was a regular at the Saturday 5:15 Mass at St. Mary’s and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Montclair, New Jersey.

Joe was, above all, devoted to his family.  The father of five, he reveled in time spent with his brood: lively barbecues, vacations at the Jersey Shore, football games at Giants Stadium – these were his great joys.  He attended every school concert, every back-to-school night, and every Halloween Fair and Fireman’s Parade.

Joe loved nothing more than to relax with a puzzle, watch some Jeopardy, and entertain those around him. He was the consummate host, devoted to the happiness of his guests, and never more in his element than when surrounded by those he loved. Friends and family will miss his sharp sense of humor, his generosity and hospitality, and his unparalleled prowess at the grill.

Fetchko, Ernest J.  age 81, of Cross River died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at home.  Ernest was born October 24, 1934 in Yonkers, NY. He is the son of the late Ernest and Rosalie (Greager) Fetchko.  Ernest was predeceased by his wife, Joan and a daughter, Alison.

Ernest served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He retired from AT&T in White Plains after 30 years of service.

Ernest is survived by his daughter: Carolyn (Jeff) Jamroga of Ridgefield, CT and a son: Raymond (Cheryl) Fetchko of Clayton, NC.

Fitzgerald , Olympia Sponza (Libby), born June 20, 1942, passed away March 24, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Daughter of Anthony and Alpha R. Sponza, Libby graduated from Somers High School and SUNY Plattsburgh, taught in Yorktown and Somers, and was a Real Estate agent at Coldwell Banker in Somers, NY. She lived in Mahopac, NY before moving to Sherman, CT.

Libby is survived by her husband John L. Fitzgerald, her son John Fitzgerald of New York, NY, daughter Erin Fitzgerald Trites and her husband Paul Trites of Wilmington, MA, and grandsons James and Aidan.

A model of strength and grace in her battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, Libby received and provided comfort through involvement in cancer and laryngectomy support groups, and offered herself as mentor to those preparing to undergo cancer treatment or laryngectomy procedures.

Fleischhauer, SFC James “Jimi” August, age 33, formerly of Somers, NY died Sunday, August 16, 2015.

Jimi was born November 27, 1981 in Cortlandt, NY to William and Margaret (nee Iliff) Fleischhauer. From a young age, Jimi expressed a love of sports and the outdoors. He was a Boy Scout and received his Eagle Scout award in 2000 before graduating Somers High School that same year. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Social Science from Westchester Community College 2008.

Jimi’s love of country led him to join the Army National Guard in 2001. Jimi served a tour of duty in Iraq from 2003-2004 and in Afghanistan from 2012-2013.

Jimi is survived by his children, James August, Jakob, and Addison and his wife, Amanda. He was a loving son to Bill and Margie, goofy little brother to Heidi France and Melissa Adams, and grandson to Mary Elizabeth Iliff.  He will also be missed by countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Frank, Ursula G, at the exceptional age of 95, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015.

She was a resident of Bedford Hills for over 50 years. Born in Berlin, Germany to George and Gerta Seyfferth in 1919, her family emigrated to Newburgh, NY when she was 9 years of age.

Ursula attended the local schools and graduated from the Newburgh Free Academy. In1939 she married Emil P Frank in Newburgh where their son Richard was born. In 1941 they moved to The Bronx and owned and operated the Pelham Bay Bake Shop for over 20 years. They later moved to Mt Kisco where they owned and operated the Village Bake Shop from 1960 to 1971.

Ursula was a volunteer at Northern Westchester Hospital and F.I.S.H. (Friends In Service Helping).She was also a long time member of The Lutheran Church of The Resurrection, Mt. Kisco.

Ursula was predeceased by her beloved husband Emil in 1995 and her brother Hans Seyfferth of Oram, Utah in 1978.

Ursula is survived by her son Richard ( Edie) Somers, N.Y.; Grandson Erik ( Margaret) of Brooktondale, NY; Granddaughter; Krista Toba ( Andreas) of Bedford Hills, NY . Great Grandsons Niko Toba 4 1/2 yrs, Dante Toba 3 1/2 yrs and Sebastian Frank 3yrs and a Niece, Linda Ward of Murray, Utah.

Freudenheim, Lenore, died July 31, 2015, 17 years to the day following the death of her beloved husband, Jay Freudenheim.

Born in Yonkers, NY January 7, 1920, Lenore resided in Katonah, NY for 70 years. She leaves her 3 children, Lynn Cavo (John) of Farmington, CT; Steve Freudenheim (Kari) of Mt Pleasant, SC; and Jill Lieberman (Barry) of Pawley’s Island, SC, as well as grandchildren Melanie, John, Charles, and David, twelve great grandchildren, and several extended family members. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by granddaughter Danielle Freudenheim, son-in-law John Cavo, and brothers Harold and Charles Salomon. Lenore also leaves her extended family of friends, neighbors, and a caregiver whose care and support enabled her to remain in her beloved home.

Lenore had great passions that included her home, her gardens, her family, and her community. Additionally, she loved music, books, and art, and she volunteered tirelessly for the Mt. Kisco Community Concert Series, as well as the Katonah Museum.

Contributions may be made to the Katonah Library, the Katonah Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of choice. A memorial service will be private at the convenience of the family.

Fusco, Joan T., 82, of Somers, NY, died on May 22^nd at Putnam Hospital Center

Joan was born in New Rochelle, NY on August 17, 1932.

She was a graduate of Edison High School in Mt Vernon, NY

In Heritage Hills she was a member of the Bowling League and Needlecraft Club.

Joan is survived by her children Joseph (Susan) Valentino, Toni Marie (Corando) Garris: and JoAnn (Michael) Querio. Her grand children Joiemarie, Cory III, Adam, Joseph and James, and She is also survived by her great grandchildren Gina, Anthony, Kaden, Angelina, Arianna and Lilliana.

Gabriele, Domenic J., MD, 100, of Somers, NY, formerly of Harrison, NY, died on April 24th.

Domenic was born on July 7, 1914 in the Bronx to Quintino and Ninfa Gabriele.

Domenic was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Lenore on Feb. 16, 2011. He is survived by his five children: Thomas (Evelyn) of Harrison, NY; Lorna (James) Starkey of White Plains, NY; Fred (Julia) of New Caanan, CT; Linda (Robert) Kenney of Sarasota, FL and Loretta (Peter) Melfi of Sicklerville, NJ. Cherished grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 13. Also, predeceased by his brother Alfred and sister Mary D’Alois.

Domenic graduated from New York University and Marquette School of Medicine. He served as a Captain in the US Army during WW II. Landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France on D-Day +1. He completed construction of his pride and joy, a Westsail 32 (Ark Angel), and raced it from Marion, MA to Bermuda in 1979 and 1981.

Gale, Dorothy “Dottie”, 88, of South Salem and formerly of Bedford Hills, NY, passed away Thursday, April 23 at her home.

Dottie was born in Mount Kisco, NY, November 29, 1926 to Ina Hyde and Albert Edson Smith. She graduated from Bedford Hills High School and employed her analytic, organizational and mathematical skills for nearly four decades as a bookkeeper. She worked with Marty Motors in Mount Kisco and the family’s Electric Gale Corp. in Croton Falls, eventually retiring with the Waccabuc Country Club in 1987. Additionally, Dottie, a lifelong aficionado of operatic and classical vocal music, sang soprano at St. Matthew’s Church in Bedford, NY from 1944 through 1987.

Dottie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald Vernon Gale, on January 25, 2009. Together they enjoyed life on the shores and waters of Lake Waccabuc through their courtship and made their home here following their marriage on March 10, 1957. She is survived by her son Donald of South Salem and her son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter, Glenn, Mayumi and Akari, respectively, of Tokyo, Japan, and by several nieces and nephews.

Gins, Sheila Rhea 63, of Purdys, NY, formerly of Katonah, died peacefully at home on May 13, after a valiant struggle with brain cancer.

Sheila was born January 29, 1952 in Greenwich, CT. When she was 3, her family moved to England, where she was raised. She returned to the United States to attend Skidmore College, graduating in 1974, which re-commenced her life in America. She remained here but she kept her mellifluous British accent.   Sheila was a lifelong equestrian, winning ribbons from an early age and excelling at the sport throughout her life. She was a member of the Honey Hollow Pony Club and ran the club for some time.  She was also a member of the Hopp Ground Garden Club and served as the horticulture chair for several years. Having learned much from her mother in the garden, Sheila had a vast knowledge of gardening and could coax blooms from a stone.

Her career in real estate encompassed many phases, including managing large condominium developments in New York City. She married Roger Gins in 1982 and they settled in Westchester County to raise their son, Erik. Their marriage ended in divorce three years ago. She continued her real estate career, working with Coldwell Banker in Katonah. Sheila was a savvy and effective sales agent with record-breaking sales of large estates to her credit. Her colleagues remember her as someone who was able to work with people from all walks of life and focused on finding the “best” for them. Even through her long illness, Sheila remained vibrant and alive. She was also known for her independent spirit, her quick wit, her friendship to all, her love of gardening, and her deep love for animals, especially Sebastian, Starburst, Hudson, and Mae.

Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Bailey and Margie Cowan, and is survived by her son Erik, of Oak Bluffs, MA, a brother, Dickinson Cowan and two sisters, Sanda Belcher, and Jennifer Helme, all of England, as well as her sister and brothers in law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all who will miss her greatly. Giordano, Mario  age 93, of Rockaway, NJ (formerly of Cresskill, NJ) passed away on March 6, 2015 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville, NJ.

Mario attended Benjamin Franklin H.S. and graduated from the College of the City of New York, BCE.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He was employed by the Pavarini Construction Co. until his retirement in 1992.

Beloved husband of the late Olga M. (nee Palmer).  Mario is survived by his son, John and his daughter, Christine; his son, Lucian and his wife, Caro, their children, Joanna and Victoria; his daughter, Ann; a brother, Guy Giordano and his wife, Marie and a sister, Rita Ance.

Gjerlow, Bob  age 77, of Bedford, NY died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Redding, CT.  Mr. Gjerlow was born on May 5, 1937 in Staten Island, NY.  He is the son of the late Ragnar and Margaret Gjerlow.

He enjoyed a long career in banking that included being employed as a Senior Vice President for the Chase Manhattan Bank.  In this capacity, Mr. Gjerlow ran the International Operations for the Bank in Tokyo and Singapore.

Bob is survived by his wife: Nancy (nee Smith) Gjerlow; a daughter, Stephanie Gjerlow; a son, Robert Gjerlow Jr. and four grandchildren.

Gonzalez, James F., 46, died on May 7th. He was born, raised and worked in Somers, NY and lived in Hopewell Junction.

He worked for Lawton Adams Construction in Somers for 15 years.

James is survived by his parents Virginia and Edward and is the brother of Suzanne Stupple (Ralph) and Tina VanDeusen (Chris) and is the Uncle of Matthew and Abigail Stupple, Nicholas and Thomas VanDeusen. James will be missed by his many cousins and friends.

Gregory, Gerard J., “Jerry” 79, of Somers, NY, died on October 26^th in the middle of his last Polka Dance, doing what he loved.

Jerry was born in New York City on September 13, 1936.

He was a veteran serving in the US Navy Seabees for 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer. Following that, he served in the NY Air National Guard for 7 years as Chief Master Sergeant for Civil Engineering Unit.

He was an Electrical Designer for the Port Authority of NY/NJ for 33 years before retiring.

Jerry is survived by his loving son: Gerard J. Gregory, Jr. of Irvington, NY and his wife, Lisa and his devoted grandson; Gerard “Jerry” Joseph Gregory, III. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen and his son, Joseph.

Harrington, Mary Beth of Pound Ridge, New York, died Sunday, June 14 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was 56 years old.

Mary Beth graduated Marymount College with honors with Degrees in Economics and Nutrition.  She began her career as a nutritionist with General Foods Corporation.  Over the ensuing 33 years she rose through the ranks and became Directors of the Nutrition and Test Kitchens at General Foods, Kraft and ultimately an Executive Nutritionist and Director Test Kitchens at of McCormack Spice Company in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mary Beth was an avid and accomplished cook and reader who loved her family, friends and Catholic Faith.  She lived to help, serve and love others.  She was a devoted daughter to her late father, William “BJ” Harrington and surviving mother, Audrey Harrington, commuting from Baltimore every weekend to be with them and her beloved twin sister, Mary Pat McCarthy, whom she loved with a passion only identical twins can understand or appreciate.

Mary Beth is also survived by two great aunts, Mary Harrington and Jane Devlin, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Carolyn, Brian and Elizabeth, and Peter and Danielle; all who loved her dearly.  Affectionately known as “Dobbie”, Mary Beth is also survived by and was greatest aunt ever to a flock of nieces and nephews over whom she fawned: Luke, Caitlyn, Meagan, Emily, Will, Hanna, Caroline, P.J. and Jill, as well as a grand nephew, Ciaran.

Hnatow, Jean Betty, 75 of North Salem, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Jean was born August 10, 1939 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Willie and Amalie Volz.

She retired from the New York City Police Department in 1983, and has since been employed as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Fowkes. She was a congregant of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasantville.

Jean is the beloved wife of Thomas and loving mother of Brent of Brewster, N.Y. She was predeceased by her son Mark and daughter Amanda.

Jacobson, Carl Herbert  a life long resident of Pleasantville before moving to Somers in 1998, died July 30^th 2015 at his home in Heritage Hills. He was born February 19, 1927 in Mt Kisco to the late Annette and Carl L. Jacobson. He is the stepson of the late Edith Vero Jacobson.

Educated in the Pleasantville public schools, he graduated from Clarkson University in 1945 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. He joined General Precision Laboratories in Pleasantville as an aeronautical engineer and remained with the company and it’s successors until his retirement in 1991.

On June 16, 1951, he married Joan Meyn, a Pleasantville High School classmate in the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church where they were both members. She predeceased him in May 2014. He is survived by his daughter Karen Jacobson, her husband Tom Molholm and their daughter Claire. A daughter, Betsy Jacobson, predeceased him in 2007.

At the General Precision Companies, Carl was a manager on many government programs involving radar navigation systems for military aircraft and missiles. He loved sailing starting at age 12 and sailed on Long Island Sound for 37 years. Carl was an unassuming rocket scientist, devoted husband and loving father.

He will be remembered Sunday August 16 at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church service and there will be a private gathering in Somers to celebrate his life on Sunday September 20. Friends may call Clark Associates Funeral Home for additional information.

Keene, John Stearly 

John Stearly Keene, son of Father John H. Keene and Katherine Bird Keene, passed away on September 3, 2015, after a brief illness.

He leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Gail; a son, John C. of Kailua, Hawaii; a daughter, Rebecca Cambareri of Yorktown, New York and four grandchildren, Mie, Keio, Kaihei and Anthony, all of whom he adored.

John attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio for undergraduate studies and received an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity and a proud former Marine Corps reservist.

John taught English for many years at the John Jay High School in Cross River, New York. He will be remembered by colleagues and students as being a superior teacher, consummate grammarian and always a gentleman. He was also an adjunct professor at Westchester Community College during the 1970’s.

Literature, poetry, reading, and writing were his passions.

He was a past president of the Pound Ridge Tennis Club, where he was able to indulge in another passion: tennis. In recent years on Sunday mornings, he would meet  with a special group of friends on a local private court. He loved the game, whether he was able to play a full set or simply bat the ball over the net.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Chapel in Vista, New York, on Sunday, September 6, at 2 pm. Interment will follow at a later date in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Kehoe, John David, “Dave” 76, of South Salem, NY, died Friday April 10, 2015 peacefully at home.

Dave was born on July 3, 1938 in South Salem to the late John Joseph Kehoe and Margaret Gogelin Kehoe.  He was a lifetime resident of South Salem and a foreman for The Town of Lewisboro Highway Department for 38 years. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Vista Fire Department.

Dave was easy to laugh, cheerful, kind, and always helpful to those in need.  He was very industrious and could be counted on to fix nearly anything.  He loved animals and nature and enjoyed spending time in his garden, his flowerbed, and his property in the Catskills.

Dave is survived by his wife of 43 years Joyce (nee Borrelli) Kehoe, his son James Kehoe of West Redding, CT, his son Daniel Kehoe, daughter-in-law Danielle Kehoe, and grandson Ryan David Kehoe of Chelmsford, MA.  He is survived by siblings Thomas Kehoe, Patricia DeVries, and June Austin, and several nieces and nephews.  He is fondly remembered by loving friends.

Kennedy, Jr., Andrew John “Andy” 72, of Somers, NY and Bradenton, FL, died Wednesday, July 15^th 2015, at Somers Manor.  Andy passed away due to medical complications after suffering a stroke on Father’s Day. Andy died peacefully with family by his side.

Andy was born in New Rochelle, NY on February 26^th to Lillian and Andrew Kennedy Sr. He attended Pace University and received a degree in Business Marketing.  Andy was a salesman for RJR Nabisco and Blue Diamond Growers. He retired 7 years ago to his home in Bradenton, FL. He was a member and usher of St. Joseph’s Church in Somers, NY as well as member and usher in St. Joseph’s Church in Bradenton, FL.

He was an avid sports fan of the New York Giants,  Mets and Rangers. He loved watching his grandsons play baseball and you could find him sitting Center Ice watching his grandsons play ice hockey, he always said that was the best seat in the house.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, of 52 years, Carole (Linford) Kennedy, his three children: Julie Gray, Andrew John Kennedy III, and Jennifer DiNardo; devoted grandsons Robert Gray, Tyler Gray, Jarrett DiNardo and Andrew “Drew” John Kennedy IV.

He is the brother to Mary Ellen McCarthy and uncle to Therese Merlino and Joseph McCarthy and the father-in-law to Robert Gray, Theresa Kennedy and Richard DiNardo; brother-in-law to Pam Vine, Marie Page, Marge Hodge and Roy & Audrey Linford. He is also survived by his cousins, Patricia Lahey, Katherine Lacroix, MaryJane Anderson, Carol Anne Jones and Anthony Saturno as well as many dear friends.

Knapp, Marie Z., 84, of Bedford Hills, NY, a life-long area resident, died October 21, 2015 in Somers, NY. Marie was born on December 12, 1930 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Lawrence and Mary (DiLena) Zottola.  Marie was a graduate of Katonah High School and the Berkeley Secretarial School in New York City.  She retired in1983 as General Manager of Educational Enrichment Materials, a New York Times Company, in Bedford Hills, NY.  She was the loving mother of Joyce Knapp of New York, NY, Susan (Clifton) Hadley of Keller, TX, and Nancy (Timothy) Anderson of Redding, CT.  She was the devoted grandmother of five grandchildren, Allison Hadley and Matthew, James, Victoria, and Erica Anderson.

Kokinchak, Lynn  53, of Somers died Sunday, January 25, 2015. She is the daughter of the late Vincent and Violet Kokinchak.

Lynn is survived by her brother: Donald Kokinchak, his wife Helen, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; and nieces, Samantha and Melissa Kokinchak.

Krause, George L.  age 87, of Pound Ridge died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Somers Manor Nursing Home of Somers, NY.  George was born March 7, 1927 in Bronx, NY. He is the son of the late Lucius and Ruth (Miller) Krause.  He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Krause on March 17, 1988.

George was a self-employed plumber. He served as a shipfitter in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion of Katonah.

George is survived by a daughter: Renee (Robert) Lee of South Carolina; a son: Clifford (Kathleen) Krause of Pound Ridge, NY; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Krueger, Arthur age 89, of Somers died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Cabrini Eldercare of Dobbs Ferry, NY.  Mr. Krueger was born November 14, 1925 in Wiesendorf, Germany., . He is the son of the late Ludwig and Olga (Felot) Krueger.  He was predeceased by his wife, Edith Krueger in November 1995.  He was a Carpenter employed by Inner City Dry Wall, Bronx, NY.

Kurtz, Kenneth M., “Ken” 72, of Somers, NY passed away peacefully May 24th, 2015 at his home.

Ken was born on June 23, 1942 in Queens, New York to the late Charles and Blanche Kurtz.

Ken was a NYC Police Officer who retired from the NYPD after 20 years of service.

He was the President of the Kurtz Family Sports Fan Club, enjoying every high school, college and youth sports event of his children and grandchildren. He was an active 32-handicap golfer, famous for one arm “bandit” putting. Known affectionately as Papa K, Big D and Grandpa, he was a true friend to all with a great sense of humor.

Ken is the beloved husband of Anne Nolan from Galway, Ireland of 51 years. He is the admired and loving father of Ken Jr. (Kate) of Somers, NY and Thomas (Adele) Kurtz of Moreau, NY. He is the devoted grandfather of Kenny, Katrina, Karlene, Nolan, Sydney and Addison. Ken is the brother of Charles, George, Denise and predeceased sister Lorraine, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Less, Terry M. 56, of Somers died Monday, January 26, 2015 at home.  Terry was born August 13, 1958 and is the daughter of the late Frank and Marge Scollin.

Terry was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence K. Less on October 31, 2008.  She was a registered nurse and worked at various facilities including Northern Westchester Hospital and Somers Manor.

Lindh, Kathleen (Lyon), 68, of South Salem, N.Y. passed away peacefully after a brief illness with cancer on May 21, 2015.

Kathleen was born in Effingham, Illinois on October 21, 1946. Her childhood included living in Venezuela, Oklahoma City, and Billings Montana before her family settled in Mamaroneck, N.Y. in 1960.

Kathleen attended Rye Neck High School in Mamaroneck and Cazenovia College. Kathleen’s employment included ITT Continental Baking, McGraw-Hill Business and Commercial Aviation Magazine. More recently she was employed at Benchmark Education, as the Promotion Manager in the Marketing Department for the last ten years.

Kathleen enjoyed life and had an adventurous soul. She had recently gone skydiving and Harley riding with her two sons. She loved reading, family gatherings, and her church family. She will be forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen of Pawling NY and Eric of Mamaroneck NY. She is also survived by two brothers Max Lyon of Seattle, Washington and Lindsay Lyon of Windsor Locks CT, one sister Mary Lamanna, of South Salem, N.Y. Kathleen is survived by two grandchildren, Shane and Danica and many nephews and nieces.

Mascia, Carmine L., of Brewster, NY, formerly of the Town of Lewisboro

He was a member of the South Salem Fire Department and a Lieutenant in Fire Police. During his career he was a Loan Officer, Controller, and most recently sole Proprietor of The Wine Seller in Katonah.

Manstrelli, Joseph  of Goldens Bridge passed away at Northern Westchester Hospital after a long illness. He was born in the Bronx to Joseph & Catherine Manstrelli on February 15, 1938.

Joe was a lifetime member of The Goldens Bridge Volunteer Fire Department since 1957. He served as a firefighter for many of those years and was currently captain of The Goldens Bridge Fire District’s fire police, a position he had held since 1983.  Prior to his retirement in 2001, Joe worked in the super market industry for 44 years.

Joe is survived by his wife of 53 yrs, Margaret; his four children, Donna Vogler of New Milford, CT., Christopher & Chuck Manstrelli of Goldens Bridge, NY and Robert (Jennifer) Manstrelli of Pawling, NY; six grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces & nephews.

She was a secretary at John Jay Junior High and Increase Miller Elementary as well as several local businesses. She loved being by the water whether kayaking, swimming or walking the beach. She bred and adored her Cocker Spaniels for many years.

Alexander M. Mastromarino, age 87, of Somers died suddenly Monday, July 6, 2015 at Putnam Hospital, Carmel, NY. Alex was born December 21, 1927 in Mount Vernon, NY. He is the son of the late Vincent and Carmela (Russo) Mastromarino.

Alex was a graduate of NYU School of Engineering with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He was a lifelong member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as well as a Licensed NYS Professional Engineer.

He served during the Korean Conflict as member of the NY National Guard in the 42^nd Military Police Rainbow Division.

Alex retired after 31 years as a Senior Project Engineer at General Foods, Tarrytown, NY. He donated his time and professional expertise when he supervised the construction of Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY.

Alex is survived by his wife of 60 years: Gracemarie (Gentilesco) Mastromarino, a son; Steven of Beacon, NY and a daughter; Patricia M. (Jeffrey M.) Janway of Hooksett, New Hampshire, two granddaughters: Nicole Mastromarino of Hopewell Junction, NY and Kristen Mastromarino of Wappingers Falls, NY.

Richard  G. McGahren (1928 – 2015)

Richard G. McGahren of Naples Fla., and Katonah NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. Richard was born on June 18, 1928, the second son of Eugene and Cecelia McGahren. Richard grew up in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Roosevelt High School. After high school Richard enlisted in the United States Army and served two years in Japan. Richard was honorably discharged and left the Army with the rank of Sergeant. Richard went on to receive degrees from Columbia College and Columbia School of Law. Richard enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as an attorney and partner with D’Amato & Lynch, LLP in Manhattan NY. Richard was a successful and respected litigator spending much of his career representing fortune 500 companies.

Richard retired in 1994 from law and married for the first time. He enjoyed a wonderful marriage to his wife Marjorie. Richard had many hobbies but his favorite pastimes were painting & sailing. He was self-taught in both. He became a proficient sailor and sailed out of marinas in Bridgeport Ct. and Naples Fla. Richard painted many scenes from the places he and Marjorie loved to travel to, especially their favorite countries, France and Germany.   Richard enjoyed many things including writing, skiing, biking and could always be found rooting for his NY Giants and Yankees.

Richard is survived by his wife Marjorie and five children and their spouses; Christine & Kyle Groff, Jennifer & Perry Cooper, Lawrence & Jennifer Waterhouse, Kevin & Angela Waterhouse and Patrick & Lindsay Waterhouse. In addition, Richard is survived by two brothers and three sister-in-laws, George and Elizabeth, Kenneth and Jean and Elizabeth, his older brother Eugene’s wife. Eugene predeceased Richard earlier this year. He is also survived by 19 loving grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews and their families.

Meehan, Maureen E., 70, of Somers, NY, (formerly Floral Park, NY) died on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Daughter of the late Vincent and Kathryn (Miller) Maher. Mrs. Meehan earned two Master’s Degrees (high honors), taught nursing for over two decades, and worked as a hospital executive. She wrote and directed award-winning educational films. Merker, Kathryn “Kate” , age 85, of Bedford died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Westchester Medical Center, Mt. Pleasant, NY.  Kate was born July 5, 1929 in Cincinnati, OH. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Alma (Yockisch) Deters.

Miller, Mary Moynihan  died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 in New York City.

Mary was born on June 29, 1944 in New York City to the late Frederick and Mary (Leahy) Moynihan.

She was a graduate of St. Luke’s Grammar School and St. Helena’s High School, both in the Bronx, and Dominican College, Blauvelt, NY.

As a Blauvelt Dominican for many years, she taught at St. Luke’s and St. Nicholas of Tolentine and helped to establish the Highbridge Community Life Center. Mary was a member of the Health Care Chaplaincy of New York where she worked in the AIDS Unit at NY Presbyterian-Cornell Weill Medical Center until she suffered a major stroke.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Martin and is survived by her sisters Catherine (Lawrence) Doyle and Julia (Phil) Gebbia, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.

Nastasi, Hon. Aldo A., 82, of Somers, New York, formerly of Yonkers, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Weill Cornell New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, the same hospital at which he was born on Saturday, September 18th, 1932. He was the son of Anthony and Santina Nastasi.

Aldo Nastasi graduated with a B.S.S. from Fordham University in 1954, with a J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1959, and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1960. He served as an officer in the US Marine Corps, was a trial attorney for 14 years, and held several elected posts in the New York Judiciary: Yonkers City Court Judge 1975-1979, Westchester Country Court Judge 1980-1983, and was twice elected to the State Supreme Court, serving consequently from 1983-2009.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Marie Alberta (nee Bochicchio), and his five sons and their spouses: Aldo Jr. and Wendy of Somers, Robert and Athena of Bayville, Marc and Kathleen of Chicago, IL, Anthony and Catherine of South Salem, and David and Michael Stone of Bronxville. He is the beloved grandfather of Daniel, Gabriella, Christopher, Anthony Aldo, Thomas, Nitsa, Eve, Kai, Joseph, and Anthony David. He was pre-deceased by his beloved brother Vincent and sister-in-law Theresa, and is survived by his longtime friend and brother-in-law Gerard Bochicchio of Scarsdale.

Of his many accomplishments the greatest was the love he cherished for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Nicholson, George T., Sr.  87, of Somers, NY formerly of Yonkers and Irvington, NY died on February 26th.

George was born in New York City on January 16, 1928.

He was a graduate of Bronx High School of Science, Iona College and New York Law School.

George served in the US Navy during WWII.

During his legal career, he was a prominent trial attorney in the NY Metropolitan area.

He was the recipient of the Loftus Award in 1992 as the Outstanding Professional Alumni from Iona College.

George was the loving husband of the late Philomena. He is survived by his sons, George (Diane) Nicholson, Jr of Somers, NY and Richard (Margaret) Nicholson of Katonah, NY

And the devoted grandfather of George, Mark, Richard, Edward, Thomas and Kerry and great grandfather of Emily and Arlen.

O’Leary, Rita Barker, 86 of Mount Kisco, NY and Bass River, MA, was born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 26, 1929, the oldest of four daughters, to Margaret M. and Paul A. Barker.

From an early age, Rita demonstrated she was “one of a kind”.  She was a gifted artist.  Rita’s artistic abilities included painting beautiful oil and watercolors. She loved doing ceramics with her children and nieces, and she created intricate sailor valentines. Rita was also a natural athlete. She attended Immaculata University, majoring in Home Economics and was a varsity basketball player. She was a talented cook and was well known for her cooking creations.

Rita met her husband of 47 years, Richard P. “Dick” O’Leary, who predeceased her in 2000.  Rita and Dick had seven children – 5 daughters and 2 sons. She was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her standards for family and conduct were unwavering. She had an innate instinct to understand each of her children and her grandchildren. Rita’s greatest interest was spending time with her immediate and extended family.

Rita enjoyed playing golf with her family and friends. Rita was an accomplished amateur golfer and learned her lifelong love of the sport from her father, winning her first tournament at Llanerch Country Club at the age of eight.  Rita continued to play competitive golf as a member of both the Women’s Tri-County and Westchester / Fairfield County Golf Associations. Rita was recognized for many of her golf accomplishments; most noteworthy, at Winged Foot she was a four-time club champion Runner-Up. During her prime playing years, her home club was the Winged Foot Golf Club.  She often played tournaments along with men at a time when women golfers were uncommon.  In her later years, her home club was the Hyannisport Club. Rita made friends wherever she went and was known to be quite funny and engaging.  She developed many lifelong friendships and left a lasting impression.

Rita was very active in both Our Lady of Fatima in Scarsdale, NY and St. Patrick’s of Bedford, NY.

Throughout their life together, Rita and Dick enjoyed road trips to visit family and friends.  As always, Rita spent the last weeks of her life enjoying time with family and friends. All of her children were with her at the time of her death.

Rita is survived by her three sisters (Joan Nieporte, Margaret Flanigan, and Paula McEachen) and seven children: Alice Kerrigan (Kevin) of Ridgefield, CT; Brenda O’Leary of Bothell, WA; Colleen Duffy of Brewster, NY; Rita O’Shea (Timothy) of Watertown, CT; Richard O’Leary, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Croton Falls, NY; Paul O’Leary (Aran) of Sandy Hook, CT and Margaret O’Leary of Madison, CT.

Rita is also survived by her 17 grandchildren: Charles and Spencer Buescher; Heather Shaughnessy, Kaitlin, Colleen, Jennifer and Kevin Richard Duffy, EN3; Mack and Rita Catherine O’Shea; Richard III and William O’Leary; Paul, Aidan, and Duncan O’Leary; and Sam, Campbell, and Griffin Franz.

O’Loughlin, Michael J. age 90, of Bedford Hills (formerly of Cross River) died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Salem Hills Health Center of Purdys, NY.  Mr. O’Loughlin was born January 16, 1925.  He is the son of the late Jose and Ramona Lugo.

Prior to his retirement, he was the owner/operator of Holly House, Pamela Lane, South Salem NY.  He was educated in NY State and was a registered nurse.  He had served as a reserve member with the 106^th Medical Group of the NY Air National Guard in 1954 and 55.  Prior to being the operator of Holly House, he was operator of A-1 Ambulance Service.   He was an honorary member of South Salem Fire Department.

Michael is survived by two daughters: Kathryn O’Loughlin, Mt. Kisco, NY, and Emily O’Loughlin, Dickson City, PA; granddaughter: Kayleah Vilen, Mt. Kisco, NY; and former wife, Barbara O’Loughlin, Bedford Hills, NY.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Known to all as “Mike”, he will be best remembered for his desire to help and serve people in the community.

Ramos, Benjamin John, “BJ”, 34, of South Salem, NY, died on May 17th.

BJ was born in Port Chester, NY to Benjamin, Sr. and Neriza Ramos on April 4, 1981.

He graduated from John Jay High School and he was a NYS Certified Paramedic.

BJ survived by his wife: Kerri (nee Paul) Ramos; his mother Neriza (Cruz) Ramos and his loving daughter Makenzie Alyssa; his sisters Rachelle Samborn and Roxanne Campbell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Reynolds, Joyce Marion, age 82, of Cross River, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Northern Westchester Hospital, Mt. Kisco, NY.  Miss Reynolds was born May 18, 1932 in Cross River, NY.  She is the daughter of the late Edwin Trowbridge Reynolds and Marion Elizabeth (Gick) Reynolds.  She was predeceased by her brother, Robert E. Reynolds, and his wife, Dorothea, and her nephew, David R. Reynolds.

Joyce was a retired Registered Nurse and Evening Supervisor at White Plains Hospital, NY.  She had great compassion for her Faith, serving as a leader in First Baptist Church.  Joyce loved her family and friends and had a deep pride in her family’s Cross River heritage.  She enjoyed life with an abiding interest in nature, animals, photography, and gardening.  Joyce was also an active member in the Lewisboro Adult Seniors.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Lois E. Reynolds of Cross River, nephews Kenneth and Richard Reynolds, niece Carol-Ann DeRose, and their families.

Ritzcovan, Sr., Paul N., the president of The Appraisal Services Group, Inc. died Saturday at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY. He was 77.

Mr. Ritzcovan lived in Somers for 45 years and owned and operated his real estate appraisal business, The Appraisal Services Group, Inc. at Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY for 39 years. Having loved the work he performed, he worked until the day he passed.

He was born November 3^rd, 1937 in New York, NY to Nicholas (Hryckowian) Ritzcovan and Anna Duda. Until moving to Somers in 1969, he resided at Burling Lane in New Rochelle, NY.

He served in the Unites States Army and after being honorably discharged, used the shooting skills to become one of the top ranked target sharp shooters in New York State.

Mr. Ritzcovan is survived by his wife Carol of Somers, his brothers Tom of New Rochelle and John of Pound Ridge, his three sons: Paul Jr. and Alex of Somers, Nicholas of Ridgefield, CT in addition to his two grandsons, Evan and Adam also of Somers, NY.

There will be a memorial service in honor of Paul Ritzcovan Sr. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY 10536 between the hours of 2 and 5 pm on Saturday January 3^rd 2015.  Afterwards an optional gathering will be held at Somerfield’s Restaurant at 325 Route 100, Somers, NY 10589.

 Romano, Vincent F. 76, of Manhattan, New York, was born on October 22nd, 1938, and passed away on June 12, 2015.

Vinny is survived by his loving companion of 28 years, Terry Clifford, and her daughters, Adriene Clifford and Lorraine Koeper, Lorraine’s husband, Jim Koeper, and their son, James Koeper.  Vinny was predeceased by his beloved mother, Margaret Gray, and brother, Ralph Romano.

A retired police officer from the New York City Police Department, Vinny was a devoted and lifelong Yankees fan (at the age of eleven he snuck out of the house and caught a train to Philadelphia to watch the Yankees play the Phillies!).  Vinny traveled extensively with Terry through Europe and the United States, but loved returning to his hometown of New York, New York, “the greatest city in the world.”  When not walking in Central Park or spotting celebrities in his Upper East Side neighborhood, Vinny enjoyed going to movies, restaurants, and Broadway shows, and spending relaxing weekends in Somers, New York.  He was an excellent dancer, an avid sports fan, and a voracious reader.  Always at the ready with a joke, a smile, or a story, Vinny was a unique and special character, and will be sorely missed.

Salomone, Eleanor, 83, a longtime resident of Bedford Hills, NY, on August 24th.

Eleanor was born in NYC on June 16, 1932 to Frank and Fannie Cataldo.

She was a devoted homemaker to her family as well as a Bank Teller at several banks in Mt. Kisco.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years: Armand “Bud” Salomone; her loving children; her devoted grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sandberg, Donald R.  86, of Somers, formerly of Bedford, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Northern Westchester Hospital due to complications of pneumonia with his loving family at his side.  Don was born June 5, 1929 in Yonkers, NY. He is the son of the late John Edwin and Florence Sandberg. Don was a graduate of Roosevelt High, Yonkers, NY and New York University.

In 1954, he married the former Harriett Shipman of Ossining, NY and in June, they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Prior to retiring, Don was a Financial Manager at Nestles in White Plains, where he was employed for 24 years. In earlier years, he served on the Church Council of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and also held many financial positions. He also was a former member of the Chowder & Marching Society in Bedford Village and was a Little League baseball coach.

Don is survived by his wife Harriett, four sons: Robert (Lucy) of Randolph, NJ, Scott (Cindy) of Bethel, CT, Craig (Patti) of Wantage, NJ and Peter (Denise) of Concord, NH and his 11 grandchildren: Michelle, Megan, Delaney, Ryan, Kelly, Colin, Jaycee, Griffin, Devin, Kyle and Emily. Also surviving are his sister, June Lilja of Silver Spring, MD and 6 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Warren. Don shall be remembered by his many friends for his love for his family, who, in turn, adored him.

Segreti, Mary B. age 90, of Somers died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Somers Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Segreti was born January 2, 1925 in New York, NY. She is the daughter of the late Frank and the late Annunziata Turchioe.  She was a Secretary.at Lincoln Hall, Somers, NY.

Seiter, Ralph  of Somers, New York, formerly of Huntington, NY and Middle Village, NY died Monday, February 16, 2015.  Ralph was born on September 13^th, 1925 in Middle Village, the seventh child to the late Joseph and Clara Seiter and the beloved brother of the late Josephine, Philip, Alvine, Christine, Ethel, Madeline, Dolores and Joseph.

Ralph is the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Slamm) and is the loving father of Mary (Lawrence) Pocknett of Avon, CT, Susan Wickware of Marlton, NJ, Joseph (Mary Wynn) Seiter of Ridgewood, NJ, Barbara (Kevin) Burke of Kinnelon, NJ, Peggy (Marc) Alimena of Rye, NY, Anne (Richard) Alexander of Succasunna, NJ, Jeanne (James) D’Elia of Ramsey, NJ and Chris (Debra) Seiter of Darien, CT.  He is the devoted grandfather of 24 wonderful grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Domenic Michael Serio was born to Dominick Serio and Mary DeLuca Serio on August 13^th 1936 and left this earth on October 7^th 2015, at 9:40 p.m., a loving husband, father, poppy and uncle who has been the Rock of Gibraltar and constant source of love and support to his family for as long as memory can render.

Where does one begin to say goodbye to such an important person? The answer, you can’t. For every fading hour a wonderful part of him still remains. Surviving Domenic is his four beloved children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  He was the devoted father of Karen (Shannah) Serio-Dutka, Michael Serio, Debora Serio-Vaughan, and Laurie Serio-Foglia.  Esteemed and much-loved Pop to Billy.  Respected and admired Grandfather-Poppy to Nicholas and Brandon, children of Michael and Debra Serio; to Stephanie, Jessica and Eric Ryan, children of David and Debora Serio-Vaughan; to Bill, Matthew and Rachel, children of Laurie Serio-Foglia. Shanahan, Hellen K.  age 99, of Katonah died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Village Crest Center of New Milford, CT.  Hellen was born November 14, 1915 in Afton,, NY. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Flora Belle (Lord) Knapp.  She retired as Director of Recreation at Waterview Hills Nursing Home.

Hellen is survived by 3 loving children: Michael; Christopher and Carla (Peter) Lazare.  Cherished grandmother of 3 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.  Fond sister of Gordon Knapp.  Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Sutter, Sarah Margaret “Peg” 
(December 15, 1920-February 16, 2015)

Peg Sutter, beloved mother and grandmother and dear friend, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco at age 94. Born on December 15, 1920 to George and Hannah “Nan” (Robinson) Badley in Cumbria, Lake District, England, Peg spent most of her youth near Manchester, England, where her academic gifts earned her a full scholarship to a distinguished local private school. In the winter of 1941, Peg was drafted into His Majesty’s Auxiliary Territorial Service and assigned to the Royal Corps of Signals in London. She served throughout the remainder of World War II as a teleprinter operator sending and receiving coded messages, including during the Allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day. Peg was among the first to view films of the concentration camps as British forces liberated them.

Peg emigrated to the United States in 1948, settling in Chicago, where she had relatives, and embarking on a career as a medical secretary; she became an American citizen a few years later. In 1949 mutual friends introduced Peg to George F. Sutter, a young accountant and fellow veteran from Ohio whose subsequent report that he was instantly smitten was doubted by no one familiar with Peg’s vivacity, intelligence, and natural beauty. A 65-year romance ensued, marked in 1953 by their marriage and in 1959 by the birth of their daughter Nan, whom they raised in Munster, Indiana. After Nan and her husband, Scott Hayworth, settled in Bedford, New York, George retired and he and Peg moved to Mount Kisco. There they helped raise the two grandsons on whom they doted, as well as a succession of cherished pets. Peg even enjoyed a bit of local fame after starring with George in a humorous television commercial for Nan’s campaign for re-election to Congress in 2012.

With her gift for quotation, quick wit, and even quicker smile, Peg kept friends and family both inspired and amused. “Cast your bread upon the waters,” she would say– giving generously of her time and talents wherever they were needed—“I shall pass this way but once.” Peg was a ferociously dedicated mother and grandmother, a champion household organizer, and a marvelous cook and hostess who made everyone who met her feel instantly welcome. She prided herself on being an “indefatigable worker,” as she’d been described as a student, staying up night after night every Christmas season writing cards to friends and relatives around the world. These notes, always done by hand despite painful arthritis, maintained ties even when Peg had parted company with the recipients decades earlier.

Peg is survived by George; Nan and Scott; her grandsons, Will and Jack Hayworth; dear family friend Rob DiFrancesco; cousins Winifred and Rudy Hazucha and family of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Jane Gagnon and family of Oak Brook, Illinois, and Jean Souter and family of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England; and many beloved friends.

Calling hours are Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY 10536. A prayer service will be officiated there by Pastor Nicole Schwalbe at 4 p.m.
Peg will be interred in the family plot at the Oakland Cemetery in Crawford County, Ohio.

Sutton, Laurie A.  (nee Saracelli)

Laurie Sutton died on Friday, October 23^rd, 2015 from injuries sustained in a bicycling accident in Eastham, Cape Cod.

Laurie was a lifelong native of the Somers/Katonah area, born to Rose & Angelo Saracelli on 2/8/54, and was the youngest of their three children. She married Anthony Sutton in 1974, and they had two children together.  She was an active person who loved being outdoors, reading, and gardening. She worked most of her life in the medical field, until in early 2014, when she semi-retired and finally made the leap to live on Cape Cod full time. There she was active in the local hiking club, the local church, and enjoyed working part-time at the Cape Cod Dog, a pet-supply store near her home.

She was an incredible wife, mother and friend; a strong, vibrant woman whose stubborn strength & huge heart were the glue that held us all together. The void she leaves behind in our lives is immeasurable. She is survived by Anthony, as well as their two children, Katherine Martin and Patrick Sutton. She is also survived by two brothers, Rick & James Saracelli, and her sisters-in-law Gail & Tracey.  She will also live on in the hearts of her aunts & uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew, and other extended family and friends.

Trapasso, Antoinette  (nee Zappia) 87, of Somers, NY on June 11th at Northern Westchester Hospital.  Born July 23, 1927 in Yonkers, NY to the late Luigi and Angela Zappia. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph on June 5, 2000.

Antoinette is survived by her son, Philip (Bernadette) of Windham, NH; her daughter, Angela T. Moran (James) of Stamford, CT; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Trommer, Patricia Joyce beloved niece, sister, aunt, great aunt and great great aunt, died at age 80 on March 4th.  A longtime resident in Yorktown and most recently Sky View Home in Croton-on-Hudson, Pat brought a spirit of joy to all who knew her through her warm smile, gentle laugh and genuine concern for others.  Pat was born March 11, 1934 to Helen and Edmund Trommer in Mt. Kisco, New York, 3rd of 5 children.  She graduated from Katonah High School and worked for Reader’s Digest in Pleasantville for 25 years.

Pat is survived by her dear aunt: Kate Ackley; her beloved sisters: June (David) Birdsall and Wanda Knapp; her nieces/nephews: Susan, Julie, Patti, Jennifer and David; great nieces/nephews: April Lynn, Sarah, Laura, Emily, Doug, Jack and Jake and great great nieces/nephews: Grayson and Cutler.

Vogler, Joan age 83, of Katonah died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at home.  Mrs. Vogler was born September 20, 1931 in Tarrytown, NY. She is the daughter of the late Anson and the late Ann (Obergfell) Dolen.  She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbert Vogler on  August 23, 1995.8

She was employed by Taconic Correctional Facility, Bedford Hills, NY as a Clerical Office Worker.

Joan is survived by three daughters: Laura Vogler-Marston, Linda Van Dorn and Debra Kelly.

Leonora Walling of Somers NY, formerly of Bedford, died peacefully with her family and caregivers surrounding her on September 24, 2015 in her home after a long illness. Lee was born on August 19^th, 1927 in East Elmhurst, New York to the late Vincenzo and Concetta Riccobono.  Lee is the beloved mother of Linda (Bob Deans), Jim (Anne) and Karen (Roger Baumann). She is the devoted grandmother of Justin, Jon, Brad, Kate and Collin. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Walling and granddaughter, Peyton Walling. Lee worked for Bedford Central Schools as a teacher’s aide. Lee was a devoted volunteer at the Northern Westchester Hospital, Katonah Thrift Shop, F.I.S.H, and Katonah Museum of Art. Lee adored her loving family, cherished her dear friends and benefitted from her gentle and patient caregivers, Carmen and Ann-Marie. The family will honor Lee’s life with a Memorial Mass at the St. Mary’s Church in Katonah on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Parkinson’s Foundation, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester.

Ward, William W., “Bill” 96, of Somers, NY, formerly of White Plains, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 in Peekskill after a short illness. Bill was born on November 30, 1918 in Schenectady to the late Thomas and Mary Reynolds Ward. On June 9, 1951 he married Helen Burke at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hartsdale.

Bill proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II in the 8th Air Force, 44th Bomb Group as a lead bombardier.

He was a 1949 graduate of Fordham University, receiving his bachelor degree in organic chemistry. He worked for General Foods, in Tarrytown for many years until his retirement in 1981. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.

Bill was an avid camper, fisherman and all around adventurer. After retirement, Bill and Helen traveled all parts of Europe, explored the Caribbean on a windjammer cruise, travelled across Canada by rail, and just when we thought they finished seeing all there was to see, they bought an RV and went about discovering America.

Bill is survived by his loving children, Sharon (Jerry) Fitzmaurice of Ossining, Claire (Robert) Satenberg of White Plains, Thomas (Michaela) of Ashburn, Virginia, Bill (Mary) of Somers, Anne (Robert) Jordan of Staatsburg, Rosemarie (Eric) Sanders of White Plains, and daughter-in-law Mary Ward. “Poppy’s” quick smile and infectious laugh will be missed by his many grandchildren, Anne Marie and Alex Ward, Shannon, Brendan and Meghan Fitzmaurice, Michele (Ian) Weiss, Billy Satenberg, Brianna and Liam Ward, Billy and Jack Ward, Bob, Brian, Jake and Sarah Jordan, Tim Sanders and Leah (John) Dalton.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen and his daughter, Dottie and his son, Kevin.

Weiss, Richard, 86, of Somers, NY, died on September 18th.

​Wicker sham, Edmund Phillips  58, of South Salem, NY died on Sunday, September 27 at Regional Hospice and Home Care in Danbury, CT after a two-year battle with cancer.

Ed was born in Glen Ridge, NJ on March 9, 1957 to Adrienne and the late Wilfred Wickersham.  He graduated from Earlham College with a BA in Biology and worked as a field biologist for several years, primarily with Stroud Water Research Center located near the Wickersham ancestral homestead in Kennett Square, PA. Later he received his master’s in library science from Drexel University, which helped launch his long career with IBM as an information analyst.

Ed is the beloved husband of Lisa Holback Wickersham, the loving father of Kate and Elena, and the devoted son of Adrienne.  He is predeceased by his father Wilfred and his brother William. Ed’s greatest pleasure came from exploring natural spaces and experiencing outdoor activities with his family. He also enjoyed learning about his family’s storied past through old letters and other memorabilia that he leaves behind. One of Ed’s passions was covering large lakes his 1906 Old Town wood and canvas canoe that he lovingly restored with the help of his girls.

In his town of South Salem, NY Ed has served as member of the Conservation Advisory Council, the Open Space and Preserves Advisory Council, and the Lewisboro Garden Club. Being an Eagle Scout, himself, he was a willing treasurer of Lisa’s Girl Scout troop. As he anticipated retirement, Ed became coach for both his daughters’ John Jay High School Junior Varsity Tennis Team and the school’s Ultimate Frisbee Team, an opportunity he found to be fun and very rewarding.

Ed was a very active member of Purchase Friends Meeting, where his life and generous spirit will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4. The meetinghouse is located at 4455 Purchase Street on the corner of Lake Street in Purchase, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Defeat GBM Research Collaborative of the National Brain Tumor Society (defeatgbm.org).

Wood, Cynthia  Marrion, 78, of Jensen Beach, FL former longtime resident of Katonah, NY, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice. Cynthia was born on November 11, 1936 in Syracuse, NY to Earl & Dorothy Wood. She graduated with a B.S. degree from Syracuse University. She was a secretary at John Jay Junior High and Increase Miller Elementary as well as several local businesses. She loved being by the water whether kayaking, swimming or walking the beach. She bred and adored her Cocker Spaniels for many years.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Cyril C. Marrion (Sr.) and sister Mary Francis Strodel. Devoted mother of Cyril Jr. (Kathy)- Acton, MA; Amy-Stratford, CT; Chris- NY, NY; Marybeth – Fruita, CO and Susan (Raynor)- Crested Butte, CO. Loving grandmother of Valerie, Jeffrey (fiancé Juli ), Kimberly, Emily, and Aidan. Dear sister of Jim Wood (June).

Ziminsky, Paul C., 52, of Mount Kisco, NY died on August 30th.

Paul was born in New York, NY, December 25, 1962.

Zarrow, Marie T., 76 of Naples, Florida, formerly of Ridgefield, CT died Friday, May 29^th, 2015 at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, FL.

Marie was born on November 29^th, 1938 to the late Oscar and Fedele DiFrancesco. She was a graduate of St. Barnabas High School, in the Bronx in 1956 and Berkeley Secretarial School in White Plains, NY.

Marie is the beloved wife of Walter Zarrow and the loving mother of Kristi Corcione (Michael) of Somers, NY. She is the devoted grandmother of Joseph, Amanda and Melissa Corcione of Somers, NY. Marie is the sister of George (Phyllis) DiFrancesco of Ocala, FL, and the late Silvana (Joseph) Tavolacci who predeceased her in 2002.

Marie is also survived by a niece Dina Siegfried, of Dunnellon, FL; a nephew, Paul (Sonia) Tavolacci of Darien, CT; a nephew, Andrew (Kathryn) Tavolacci of Overland Park, KS; stepchildren: Andrew Zarrow (Joyce) of Manhassett, NY and Laura Zarrow of Pennsylvania, 3 step grandchildren, 4 grand nieces and nephews and numerous friends who loved her so much.
