Obituary of Cora Cypser

Cora Elizabeth "Betty" Cypser (nee Faust), December 20, 1926 - April 25, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cora Elizabeth "Betty" Cypser, who left us peacefully on April 25, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on December 20, 1926, in Marlboro, New York, Betty was a beacon of love and peace-making throughout her remarkable life.

Betty was the beloved wife of the late Rudolph J. Cypser for 69 wonderful years and a cherished mother to Myra Cypser (deceased), Beth Cypser-Kim, Valery Keramaty, James Cypser, and Daniel Cypser. She was a proud grandmother to Emily Riggs, Elisabeth Kim-Oliver, Alison Kim, Mark Keramaty, Robyn Keramaty, Christopher Cypser, Nicole Cypser, Connor Cypser, and Kelsi Cypser. She was also a great-grandmother to Margaret and John Riggs; Jonas and Miles Oliver; baby Kim-Blumenthal; and Henry Keramaty.

At different times in her life, Betty earned degrees in Nursing, Mathematics, and Divinity, in keeping with her passion for learning and helping others. Together with her husband Rudy, she dedicated many years to advocating for better treatment of prisoners in the New York State prison system, and tirelessly worked for the reform of New York state drug laws. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to justice have left an indelible mark on many.

In addition to her role as a peacemaker and advocate, Betty was also a prolific writer, having published at least nine volumes of poetry and five books on religious and philosophical subjects, as well as two books exploring the early history of human migrations. Her written works reflect her deep intellectual curiosity and her commitment to exploring and understanding the human condition.

Betty's legacy of love, peace, and perseverance will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her. We find comfort in knowing that her life was a testament to the power of quiet strength and relentless compassion.

Visitation will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woodsbridge Rd, Katonah, NY 10536, from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 28, 2024. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Rd, Somers, NY 10589, at 10 a.m. on April 29, 2024.
