Obituary of Linda Petrasch Denison
Linda Petrasch Denison, age 82, of Redding, Connecticut, died at her home on Sunday, September 10, 2017.
Born in New York City, Linda was the daughter of the late Carl Schurz and Florence Lindsay Petrasch. She was a longtime resident of Bedford, New York, until her recent move to Connecticut. Linda was a graduate of The Bedford Rippowam School, Garrison Forest School, and Briarcliff College.
A devoted participant in her community, Linda was deeply engaged throughout her adult life with St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, New York. There, among her many roles, she served as Junior Warden on the vestry. Linda was also actively involved with Northern Westchester Hospital for many years, where she worked as a manager of volunteers and was herself a volunteer. Additionally, Linda formerly served on the Board of Trustees of The Bedford Rippowam School.
An ardent reader, gardener, traveler, cook, and lover of history, Linda above all cherished her life with family and friends. She was a giver, a nurturer, a creator of comfort.
Linda is survived by her sons, John Hopkins (Jay) Denison, Jr., and his wife, Ellen, of Concord, Massachusetts, and their daughters, Elisabeth and Nina; and Mark Hopkins Denison and his wife, Tammy, of Jericho, Vermont, and their daughters, Hanna and Hope. She was predeceased by her brother, John Garrit Petrasch. She was the former wife of John Hopkins (Jock) Denison.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 22, at 11:30 AM in the Fellowship Room at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, New York. Burial will be private. Those wishing to honor Linda’s memory may make donations to Northern Westchester Hospital, 400 East Main Street, Mount Kisco, New York; or to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 382 Cantitoe Street, Bedford, New York.
