Obituary of Vincent Trotta

Vincent Trotta, 74, of Somers, New York, formerly of Katonah, died peacefully on July 4th at Northern Westchester Hospital.

Vince was born on December 23,1949 in the Bronx, New York, where he lived for two years prior to moving to Long Island where his love of music and sense of humor wooed his high school sweetheart and forever soulmate, Jill. Vince and Jill married in September 1974 and were inseparable for the next 50 years.

Family was always first for Vince and he was the center of every room he walked into. He and Jill could be found together enjoying a good meal, on the pickleball court or playing a round of golf. Vince was the proud father of Matthew (Heather) and fun-loving G-Paw of Benjamin and Harry. He never missed an opportunity to take his grandsons for a treat or buy a silly gift. In addition to his immediate family, Vince is survived by his older sister, Mary Ann Young, and cousin Ronald Cuiffreda. Vince was predeceased in death by his parents Ben and Flora Trotta, and - just six weeks ago - by his loving wife, Jill.

A graduate of Wilmington University, Vince built a successful career in the textile industry as an executive for Dan River, Inc., and most recently as a partner and “coach” with his good friend James McKinnon at Wingfield Appeal. The ever stylish, gregarious and somewhat mischievous Vince was known for his great sense of humor and drive to always beat the system. There were no dull moments when Vince was around.

Above all, Vince loved being with Benjamin and Harry and he sought every minute to be with them. He took great pride in recording entertaining play-by-plays at the boys’ sporting events, playing the trumpet together, and spending time with them on the golf course, or eating a lobster dinner.

The Mass of Christian Burial, which will be an opportunity for all who loved him to celebrate his life will be at St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford, NY on Thursday, July 11th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to honor Vince to make a donation to Positive Coaching Alliance (Donate - Positive Coaching Alliance), a youth sports experience with a coach who inspires them to become the best version of themselves in the game and in life.

Vince always exhibited his best, and made others rise to their best. He will truly be missed and the family hopes that you will think of him next time you are on the golf course or enjoying a stiff Manhattan on the rocks.
