Obituary of Rose Marie Bowes
Rose Marie Bowes, a North Salem resident of 53 years, died peacefully July 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 89. Born June 26, 1935, in the Bronx to Irish immigrants Thomas and Catherine Taaffe, Rose Marie was the second eldest of their six children, Thomas, James, Patricia, John, and Patrick.
Rose Marie married Richard Bowes in October 1960 and raised five children. She is predeceased by her husband Richard and her beloved daughter, Laura Traynor (Keith), and is survived by her loving sons Thomas, Steven (Patricia), Christopher (Maria), and Richard (Heather) and ten grateful and loving grandchildren, Catherine, Caroline, Lauren, Nathaniel, Ciara, Colin, Erin, Liam, Declan, and Juliette.
Rose Marie was a successful realtor in Northern Westchester for nearly fifty years and kept abreast of the housing market up until her passing. She was an extraordinary and accomplished cook whose meals brought together her extended family for the holidays and family gatherings. She cultivated a beautiful backyard garden and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren during extended vacations at the beach in Montauk.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday July 17 from 4pm-8pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY 10536. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, New York. Interment will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery in Somers, New York.
Family and friends are invited to a 11:30 am reception following the burial service at the il Forno Italian Kitchen adjacent to the St. Joseph’s cemetery and located at 343 US-202, Somers, New York 10589.
