Dorothea was the youngest sister of our grandma and although she was our father‘s aunt. She was four years younger than him.
We met her during her visits to Germany. One visit we remember very well : She came to Germany shortly after the fall of the wall in 1989. It was the first time after many years that she visited Elbingerode together with our father. We met in the evening and she was so happy to see her birthplace again.
Over the many years she always showed interest in her German relatives and stayed in touch with us. We were always happy to talk to each other.
Even after so many years of living away from Germany Dorothea still spoke German with the typical dialect from Elbingerode which was heartwarming to hear.
Our thoughts and condolences are with her daughter, her son-in-law and her grandchildren and we mourn with them.
