Obituary of John Gabriel Maccanello

John Gabriel Maccanello, age 87 of Pound Ridge, New York, died Monday, November 11, 2024, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York.

John was born on May 5, 1937, in the Bronx, New York, to the late John & Lena Maccanello. He was a graduate of Westchester Community College, an expert tradesman, and a proud member of  Local Union #3 NYC of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for over 50 years.

John was a true Renaissance man. He was a skilled photographer, stained glass artist, and painter. As an active member of his community, he shared his talents often. John was a member of the Westchester Community Photography Club, and he donated many of his photographs to various libraries within the community. Additionally, he donated photographs to Northern Westchester Hospital in support of combating cancer. His art remains as a beautiful tribute to his life and a reminder of the passion it was filled with.

John was a true patriarch, the beloved pillar of his family. He enjoyed vacationing with them all throughout the Outer Cape including Welllfleet, Truro, and Provincetown, Massachusetts, and hosting holidays and special occasions at home. He was there for both the mundane and the momentous, and his presence had a remarkable impact on his family.

He is preceded by his daughter Debra Bliziotis and is survived by his wife Gloria Maccanello, daughter Lysa Smart, brother Anthony Maccanello, son-in law Chuck Bliziotis, son-in-law Steven Smart, granddaughter Alexandra Bliziotis, grandson Nicholas Smart, granddaughter Theodora Bliziotis, and grandson Benjamin Smart.
