Obituary of Joan McNamara

Obituary: Joan McNamara admin Joan was born in the Bronx to Lester and Elizabeth O’Connor. She grew up in Yonkers with her sisters, Nancy (Chiudina) and Pat (Parisi). Joan had her own dance studio in Yonkers, Joan O’Connor Dance Studio, where she taught the love of dance to children for many years. She was an active member of the community where she volunteered for St. Mary’s Midnight Run and the Women’s Civic Club of Katonah. Joan was also a patron of the North Shore Animal League. Joan is the beloved wife of George F. McNamara, the loving mother of Tricia (Louis) Caracappa and Deborah (Joseph) Logan, and the devoted grandmother of seven grandchildren: Matthew, Daniel and Thomas Caracappa, and Joseph, Timothy, Kimberly and Ryan Logan. She is also survived by her cherished sister, Nancy and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Elizabeth, and her sister, Pat. Joan will be missed dearly by her family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM and from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Clark’s Funeral Home, Katonah NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church at 55 Valley Road, Katonah NY on Saturday, February 10th at 10AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Should friends desire, contributions can be made to the North Shore Animal League.
