Obituary of Ralph Gatto
Gatto, Ralph, 92, a resident of Katonah, N.Y. for 56 years, formally of Scarsdale and White Plains, died March 5, 2017 at Bethel Nursing Home.
Ralph was born on September 6, 1924, in Scarsdale, New York to the late Anthony Gatto and Anna DeVito Gatto. He is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Joseph, Al, Monty, Pete, Tony and Danny, along with 3 sisters, Viola, Isabella, and Elizabeth. Ralph was an Army veteran with the 11th Armored Division during WWII in Germany where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Ralph has been known for selling cars. He started in the early 1950’s along with his brothers at the Gatto Chevrolet Dealership and Marty Motors until he eventually opened his own dealership, Gatto Motors, until 2013. All were located on Bedford Road. Ralph was top salesman in the state for many years and won many awards. He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of West Harrison VFW Post 5463. Ralph was a longtime parishioner of St Mary of the Assumption RC Church in Katonah and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees.
Ralph is the beloved husband of Mary DeLeo Gatto for 70 years and is the loving father to Jodi Gatto Lucado, and devoted grandfather of Lauren Harper (Duane), Heather Rea, Taylor Lucado, and great grandson Bentley Saunders, all of Lynchburg Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of whom he loved dearly and would do anything he could for his family and friends.
Friends may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah on Wed from 4-8 pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thurs at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Kisco.
