Obituary of William R. Masetti

William R. “Bill” Masetti, 92, of Somers, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27th 2017 after a short illness. Born in 1925 in Manhattan, NY, Bill entered military service after graduating from Haaren High School, completing advanced academic and flight training to become an Aviation Cadet in the US Navy. After the war ended, he graduated from Stewart Technical School with training in aeronautical and mechanical drafting and design, followed by a career with Irvington Form and Tank, United Nuclear, Burns and Roe, and Nuclear Energy Services. Bill was a kind, caring and generous husband, father and grandfather, combining his enjoyment of aviation and model airplane flying with his love for family and friends and his fondness for bowling, poker, pool and photography. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Anna; son Andrew and companion Kathi Young; son Alexander and daughter-in-law Catherine; grandchildren Katherine Masetti, Elizabeth Smith and husband Spencer, Alexander Masetti Jr., Daniel Masetti and Natalie Masetti; great granddaughter Harper Maye Smith; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Doris Hochreiter in 2015, and parents William and Clara. His family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1st, from 4 to 7pm at the Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. On Friday, all will gather at the funeral home at 9am and depart at 10am for his interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY.
