Obituary of Joseph F. DiMicco

DiMicco, Joseph F. 84, passed away on October 3, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mr. DiMicco was born on October 6, 1931, son of the late F. Joseph and Emily DiMicco of Mount Kisco, New York. He married Jean Ellen Castle on January 30, 1954 in Potsdam, New York. They resided in Bedford until retiring to Heritage Hills, Somers in 2000. Mr. DiMicco attended Mount Kisco High School where he will be remembered for his excellence in sports, especially football. He graduated from Clarkson University in 1953 and having participated in R.O.T.C. was inducted as an officer in the U.S. Army. While in Korea with the 26th Signal Battalion he supervised the construction of an orphanage at the end of combat. He was proud of his service and was a member of Lexington Veterans Association and Military Officers of America Association, both organizations in Fort Myers, Florida, where the DiMiccos have a winter home. In addition to St. Matthews, he was a parishioner of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel Island. Mr. DiMicco received an MBA from New York University in 1967. During his business career, he was involved in a number of classified projects. Mr. DiMicco was a member of Bedford Chowder and Marching Club, Mount Kisco Country Club and Lexington Country Club, Florida. He was an active parishioner at St. Matthew’s Church, Bedford, serving as Property Commissioner for many years and as a member of the Vestry. While living in Bedford, he served as President of the Sutton Clock Winders Association, an extension of one of his favorite hobbies; antique clock maintenance and restoration. He was also an avid gardener and tennis player. Mr. DiMicco is survived by his loving family: wife, Jean and 3 daughters. Karen Timko (James M.), of Cortlandt Manor, Pamela Keller (David S.) of Rye, Elizabeth DiMicco of San Francisco, California and 4 grandchildren, Kelly and Megan Timko and Joseph and Katherine Keller. He was predeceased by his sister, Maria DiMicco Reitter. A Memorial service will be held on October 8 at 2:00 at St. Matthew’s Church, 382 Cantitoe Street, Bedford, NY followed by a reception in the Parish House. Interment will take place in St. Matthew’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Church, P.O. Box 293, Bedford, New York 10506.
