Ronald Paul McPhee
May 13th, 1933 – June 25th 2018
Ronald Paul McPhee, 85, of Somers N.Y., formerly of Chappaqua, died Monday, June 25th 2018 at Northern Westchester Hospital.
Ron was born on May 13th, 1933, in Manhattan. He grew up in the Bronx, attended Cardinal Hayes High School, and was awarded a scholarship to attend Columbia University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He was Captain of Columbia’s Varsity Basketball Team in 1955.
After college he joined the U.S. Air Force, became a pilot, and rose to the rank of Captain. Following his military service he found work with T.I.A.A. C.R.E.F., where he worked for 40 years, and from which he retired as a Vice President of Insurance Services.
Ron is the beloved husband of Carol (Frueh), the father of Ronald Jr. (Donna), of Warwick R.I., and Carolyn Doan (Jim), of Westport, C.T., and is the grandfather of James and Charlotte Doan of Westport, C.T.. Throughout his adult life Ron was an avid tennis player and platform tennis player, actively involved with various community organizations at Heritage Hills of Somers, N.Y., and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Friends and family may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah N.Y. on Wednesday, June 27th, from 7:00– 9:00 p.m., and Thursday June 28th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m..
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers N.Y. 10589, on Friday June 29th, at 10:00 a.m..
Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Route 202, Somers, NY
