Obituary of Eugenia Duffy
Eugenia (Ebbie) Duffy died peacefully at her home in South Salem, N.Y on August 19, 2018 surrounded by her beloved children, grandchildren, and nieces. Her last days at home were spent under the care of her nieces, Eileen Crispi and Gerie Dunn, with whom she was especially close. Ebbie reached her 100th birthday on March 28, 2018 and was celebrated with a grand party at the Horse and Hound in South Salem.
She was born to Bedrich and Agnes Prochazka in the family homestead in Durlandville, N.Y., The family raised onions, lettuce and celery in the fertile soil in the fields of the ‘black dirt’ region. Ebbie was the youngest of eight children.. She was a tireless worker and enjoyed a long career as a hairdresser for the better part of 60 years. She worked at Convalescent and Nursing Homes well into her eighties.
Ebbie loved gardening and was a member of the Lewisboro Garden Club. She was a superb cook and baker and was the recipient of several Betty Crocker Baking Awards. Nevertheless, her greatest passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly by everyone who ever met her, She was humble, kind, generous and was always giving rather than taking. She was like a ray of sunshine, always warm and upbeat.
Ebbie is pre deceased by her husband Lawrence.. She is survived by her four sons: Lawrence Duffy Jr., Ronald Duffy and his wife Lorraine, Gerald Duffy, and Fred Duffy and his wife Abby. She leaves behind her grandchildren to whom she was especially dedicated: Sara Levinson and her husband Greg, Allie Duffy, Kyle Duffy, Bret Duffy, and Victoria Rose Duffy; She is also survived by her precious Great Grandchildren Andrew and Jack Levinson.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug 22 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd, Katonah, NY from 10:00am to 12:00pm with the funeral service to follow at the funeral home at 12:00pm.
Interment will follow at Florida Cemetery, Florida, NY .
