Obituary of Catherine Sweeney Smith

Catherine Sweeney Smith, Kate, 94. Passed away August 19, 2018. Born August 9, 1924 to Thomas and Mollie Sweeney (nee Mary Theresa Sheridan) in Manhattan, NYC. She was recently living in Sandy, Utah and before in Somers, NY, Greensboro NC, Cortland NY, and Astoria NYC. Predeceased by her husband Edward A. Smith and siblings John, Meg, Tom and Marcella. Survived by a daughter Mary Kate, a son Eddie (Edye Schwartz), a grandson Brendan, a granddaughter Erinn (Greg Mogle) and great granddaughter Zurial. As well as many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews all of whom loved her dearly. Over the years she visited and traveled with family and friends which she enjoyed immensely as well as time spent with friends from her church and neighborhood. Ever helpful and happy she will be missed. In the words of one friend “She was a treasure to know”.

There will be no visiting hours.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Church, 95 Plum Brook Rd, Somers NY at 10 AM Saturday September 1, 2018 followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
