Obituary of Ann Marie Walsh

Ann Marie Walsh of Amawalk, NY, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  She was 79 years old.

Ann Marie was born on April 19, 1939 in Brooklyn NY to Nicholas and Genevieve Kalmes.  After marrying William P. Walsh, she moved to Yonkers, NY where she lived for many years.  

Ann Marie was a lifelong educator for the New York City Board of Education.  Ann Marie was elementary teacher in East Harlem and the Bronx and retired from teaching in 2001.  Ann Marie had a great love for the Jersey shore.  She would spend any free moment she could find at the Shore.  She loved the beach.  Once she retired from teaching, she spent most of time at the Jersey shore and with her grandchildren.  After becoming ill Ann Marie she moved from Yonkers, NY to Amawalk with her daughter Kelly and her family.   

Ann Marie was predeceased by her loving husband William P. Walsh in 1973. 

Ann Marie Is survived by her Daughter Kelly Carlson and her husband Shawn Carlson. Her five Step Children William Walsh, Jr., Carole Mahoney Walsh, Kathleen Walsh, Patricia Kehoe, and Michael Walsh (Sheila).  She is survived by her two grandsons Michael and Matthew Carlson.   She is survived by her four sisters Genevieve Rapp (Robert), Margery Kalmes (Fred), Dorothy Engel (Fred), and Kathleen Affuso (Paul).  She is survived by many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on March 28th from 1:00 to 3:00pm & 6:00 to 8:00pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 29th at 11:30 am at St.Joseph's RC Church,95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY 10589. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, 304 Lexington Avenue, Mount Kisco, NY 10549.

In lieu of flowers the family is looking into creating a remembrance at the NJ Shore in her name.  More details to follow.
