Our two families forged a deep, everlasting bond. Our fathers both worked as science teachers and coaches in Somers, and our mothers became friends as they raised their families just a few streets apart in the same close-knit community. Through decades of friendship, Angela and my mother shared many of life’s ups and downs. In their golden years, they enjoyed simply chatting on the phone or getting together with a few other neighborhood friends to catch up over coffee. For as long as I can remember, Angela has been a figure in my own life as well. In 2012, she attended my book launch at the Elephant Hotel with other members of my extended Somers family. Having people I had known all my life celebrate the publication of my book about Somers was one of the most moving experiences I’ve ever had. I will feel her loss keenly and share my deepest condolences with the Manfredi family.
