Obituary of Richard J. Bowes

Richard J. Bowes, Jr., a North Salem resident of 48 years, died December 5, 2019 at home in North Salem, New York.  He was 87.  Born July 28, 1932, in the Bronx to Loretta (Rzemieniewski) and Richard J. Bowes.  Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of eighteen and served as a Staff Sergeant from 1951 to 1955.  From 1957 to 1985, he served as firefighter and Lieutenant for the Fire Department of the City of New York.  Richard was an accomplished painter and craftsman. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Laura Traynor (Keith) and is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rosemarie (Taaffe), sons Thomas, Steven (Patricia), Christopher (Maria), and Richard (Heather), his sister Dorothy, and ten grateful grandchildren, Catherine, Caroline, Lauren, Nathaniel, Ciara, Colin, Erin, Liam, Declan, and Juliette.  In lieu of flowers, please give to the charity of your choice.

Family will receive friends on Monday morning, December 9, 2019, from 8:30 to 9:30 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY 10536.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY.

Interment will follow at St Josephs Cemetery, Somers, NY
