Obituary of Daniel Robert Keegan

Keegan, Daniel Robert, 28, of Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Dover, NH died Thursday, January 7th 2016. Daniel was born on January 27th 1987 in Hartford, CT to Andrew and Stephanie Keegan. He served 8 years in the US Army, deploying to Afghanistan twice and leaving the Army in September 2014. He attended St. John’s University in New York and the University of New Hampshire returning to active duty just one semester shy of graduation. After his military service he worked diligently to provide as many people as he could in his area with health insurance. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather Daniel spent many years as a competitive fencer. He loved the sport and the people he met in it, even going so far as to put together a fencing club on his base in Afghanistan. As an avid reader he also helped to put together a small library on base and filled it with donations from generous friends and strangers alike. He was a brilliant, kind, and generous young man and will be deeply missed. Daniel is survived by his parents of Somers, NY as well as his brother Brian Keegan of the Bronx, NY and Peter Keegan of Somers. In addition he leaves his grandmother Anne Keegan of West Hartford, CT and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd. Katonah, NY on Saturday, January 16th from 10-12, with services immediately following at the funeral home.
