Obituary of Richard M. Hadad
Richard M. Hadad, 89, a 50 year resident of Somers, NY, died Monday, December 9th, 2019 at his home in Somers.
Richard was born on December 24th, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mitchel E. and Helen Hadad. He was a graduate of the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT.
Richard was an Army Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer and Forward Observer who served in Korea during the Korean War, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge.
Following his Army service, Richard was the proprietor of RMH International Corp in Rockefeller Center, NYC. He then became president of Mitchel Conn Corp. of Greenwich, CT until his retirement.
Richard was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Somers. He was very active in veteran’s affairs, and participated as a member of the color guard in nearly every Memorial Day and Veterans Day parade in Somers. He enjoyed playing tennis and was a decades-long Army West Point Football season ticket holder. He will most assuredly be cheering on the Brave Old Army Team as Army defeats Navy again on Saturday!
Richard was the devoted husband of Lieselotte (nee Gartner) and the loving father of Mitchel E. (Lynn) Hadad, II of Guilford, CT, Richard M. Hadad, Jr of Schenectady, NY, Thomas E. (Rayer) Hadad of Midlothian, VA, Steven C. Hadad of New Fairfield, CT, and Kenneth C. Hadad of Albany, NY. He was the loving step-father of James (Heather) Dohr of Austerlitz, NY and Eric Dohr of Flower Mound, TX. He is the devoted grandfather of Casandra Hadad Tahler of Port Orchard, WA and Nicholas Hadad of New York City, 10 step-grandchildren, and one great grandson. He is pre-deceased by his sisters Lenore Zrike and Marie Meena and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Saturday morning at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Somers, NY from 10 am to 10:30 am and The Funeral Service will begin at the Church at 11:00am.
Interment will follow at Ivandell Cemetery, Somers.
