Obituary of Einar Rannekleiv
Rannekleiv, Einar B.; Einar passed away peacefully Friday morning, April 10, 2020, at his home in Shenorock, NY. He was born on September 9, 1931 in Arendal, Norway.
Einar is the beloved husband of Anne (nee Schafer) and is the loving father to Bjorn (Louisiana, USA), Einar, Tone & Per (Arendal, Norway), Daniel & Stephen (Somers, NY) and Keren (Washington, DC). He lived to see 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild born, all of whom survived him. He is also survived by 2 of his 9 siblings, Eilert (Clarksville, TN) & Olav (Brevard, NC). His family was the most cherished blessing of his life.
Einar worked on the family farm and in the textile industry in Norway through his youth and went on to the Merchant Marines as a ships’ carpenter. He sailed the world over to every continent with cargo such as spices, bananas and oil. He immigrated to the US in 1961 and began his career as a sole proprietor/ carpenter. He was a devout Christian and a founding member of The Bedford Community Church. He was a happy and humble man, known for his honor, work ethic and corny sense of humor. Upon his retirement, his favorite hobbies were wood working in his garage making things for family and friends, clamming in Rhode Island and playing solitaire at his kitchen table. If you met him once, you never forgot him.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date when his friends and family can gather to celebrate his life.
