Obituary of Ada Boldrini

Ada Moccia Boldrini passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2020. She was born in Rome, Italy on December 24, 1924. Sadly, her mother died when she was a baby, leaving Ada and her two sisters to be raised by their Nonna Marietta and Zia Concetta. Ada learned to sew as an apprentice seamstress in Italy. She also worked in Rome’s Ministry of Veteran Services during World War II where she met her husband Elvio, who served as an interpreter for the U.S. Army. They were married on July 6, 1945 at Santo Spirito Church in Rome. Ada arrived as a war bride in New York in February 1946. The young couple moved to Eynon, Pennsylvania for a few years. Ada worked as a seamstress while Elvio completed his degree in Chemistry at the University of Scranton under the G.I. Bill. Together, they realized the American dream! They settled in New Jersey, where Ada resided for more than 60 years. She and Elvio enjoyed traveling back to Italy and throughout Europe. In 2012, Ada moved to South Salem, New York to be closer to her family. She joined the Lewisboro seniors and made many new friends there. The most important thing in Ada’s life was her family. She took great pride in her home, and was an amazing cook! Her incredible handmade Halloween costumes designed for her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten. She crocheted beautiful zigzag quilts in many colors and sizes and gifted them with delight. Ada was an avid reader and a diehard fan of Jeopardy. She also enjoyed casinos. Ada spent countless happy hours cooking and baking for the family. Homemade pasta like cappelletti and ravioli, soups, and sauces were her specialties. She also made a delectable ciambellone, and a variety of delicious Italian cookies. Her Christmas Eve dinner delicacies were incomparable! Ada was a tireless caregiver, especially during her husband Elvio’s long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was truly a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be sorely missed by all! Predeceased by her son Bruce, in 1992, her sisters Vanda and Giovanna in 2000, and her beloved husband, Elvio in 2010, she is survived by her daughter Brenda McCann (husband Daniel), grandchildren Jerrold Boldrini, Nicole Boldrini, Jesse McCann, and Maia Star McCann, grandchildren Christopher Mappa, Claudia Mappa, and Enzo Faugno. Funeral services at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah, New York and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, New Jersey will be private. A Memorial celebration will be planned when CoVid 19 restrictions are lifted. Memorial donations may be made to Rescue.org
