My tribute is about the love story between Bob and our dog Sasha.
16 years ago we were the new family on Hoyt Street. Bob came through the trees that separate our properties and welcomed us with his warm smile and the history of our lot; he used to hit golf balls where our house is now. For our Siberian Husky Sasha, it was love at first sight.
It wasn’t long before Sasha joined him on his daily walks, which back then, meant around the lake twice a day. She was smitten. This was a great help to us due to our city commute. But her time with Bob was more than exercise, it was social. Bob would chat with friends, and Sasha would meet more people than we did. Sasha was with Bob so often, that when I walked her, neighbors would ask me if I was walking Bob’s dog.
Walking with Bob, the Mayor of Hoyt Street, made her very popular. He told me she slowed him down because on their walks she would make many stops to read her “pee mail.”
Sasha adored Bob. She would wait for him on the deck and when she heard him clear his throat in his yard, she would bound down and dance around the front yard until Bob appeared through the trees. He would remove the collar that kept her (most of the time) in our yard, and pop on a leash. Then she would lead (drag) him down the driveway with Bob reminding her, “easy Sasha.”
When his “dang ticker,” made him feel too unstable to walk with her, he would still come through the trees for visits. I think she understood. Bob and Sasha were walking buds for more than a decade.
Bob was a great friend and neighbor and we all miss him.

Bob & Violet were wonderful neighbors - kind and caring. They will be greatly missed. I enjoyed many discussions with Bob, especially about the history of our area. Bob especially loved our dog, Sasha, and she loved him back. They enjoyed many walks together around the lake and I hope she was there to greet him. Rest in peace Bob and Violet
