Obituary of Joseph Fastiggi
Joseph Fastiggi, 85, passed peacefully early Tuesday morning, March 17, 2020 at home under the loving care of his immediate family. Joe was born on May 1, 1934 in New Rochelle, New York to Vito Fastiggi and Rosa Fastiggi of Calitri, Italy. He married the love of his life, Suzanna Fastiggi on September 22, 1957 and had two children, Jo-Ann (Fastiggi) Marinaccio and Dr. Thomas Fastiggi. Joseph graduated Westchester Community College in 1954 with a B.A. in business. He began his career at Metropolitan Life where he met his future business partner Chet Foster. For 38 years, Joe and Chet co-owned the Colonial Delicatessen in New Rochelle. Upon retiring from the Colonial Deli, Joe and Sue relocated from Pelham, New York, where they raised their family, to Somers, New York. He spent more than 20 years as a chauffer for County Limousine, then All-Star Limousine before officially retiring in 2018 at age 84.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Vito and Rosa, and his older brother Gaetano (Nino), who served faithfully and was lost in WWII. He is survived by his wife, Sue and his two children, Jo-Ann and Thomas as well as son-in-law, Chris Marinaccio, daughter in-law, Ann Fastiggi and three grandchildren, Andrew Marinaccio, Greg Marinaccio, and Juliana Fastiggi.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at St. Joseph RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY at 11:30AM.
