Luz (Lucy) Romero Valdes, 88, of Waccabuc, NY Passes Away
Lucy Valdes, 88, of Waccabuc NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday 8/27/2020,
due to complications from Covid that left her in a weakened state. Her loving daughter, Sandy and her son-in-law, Jeff were by her side shortly before her passing.
Lucy had a B.S. in Science, which she used to become a laboratory technician in her early years. Later, she went on to receive her B.A. in Art History from the College of New Rochelle.
Lucy’s love for history and art helped her in becoming a docent at Caramoor, John Jay Homestead and The Henry Hudson Museum.
Lucy was a loving mother and grandmother, and consistently gave to many charitable organizations throughout her life.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Sandy Hapoienu, son-in-law, Jeff Hapoienu, her sister Elba and her two grandchildren, Brett Hapoienu and Tori Hapoienu.
A private memorial service will be held for family only. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your own favorite charity.
The Hapoienu family would like to extend its appreciation to Waterview Nursing Home, Northern Westchester Hospital and Clark Associates Funeral Home for the care that they provided. In addition, thank you to all of our friends for their outpouring of love and support.
