Obituary of Anthony P Maida
Anthony Maida, 90, a resident of Heritage Hills in Somers, New York, formerly of Armonk, New York, died Wednesday, October 14, 2020, of natural causes.
Anthony was born on May 7, 1930, in Clifton, New Jersey, the son of Peter and Tessie Maida and grew up in Bronx, New York. He served in the army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He was a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology, where he studied engineering. Anthony retired in 1989 from the New York City Department of Transportation where he was a civil engineer.
Anthony was an avid tennis player, but his favorite sport was golf which he played with his many friends, sons-in law, and grandsons. He loved working outdoors in his yard and enjoyed woodworking and making furniture in his spare time.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 69 years, his high school sweetheart, Marie; his daughters, Lori Maida Herman of Ridgefield, Connecticut; Toni Maida Lochner and her husband Steve of Pound Ridge, New York; and Cathi Maida of South Salem, New York. Anthony was a devoted grandfather to Mark Herman of Washington, DC; Matthew Herman of Boston, Massachusetts; Eric Lochner of New York City; and Jessi Maida Schulman of South Salem, New York. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Herman.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 18th from 2-6pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday October 19th at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s RC Church, 29 Cox Avenue, Armonk, NY 10504. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY 10579
Donations in Anthony’s memory may be made to the Ambulance Corps of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
