Robert and I met through Rotary - first at Katonah and then at NE Westchester, where we both served on the board in various functions. We shared a common passion for a Polio free world - and we did many projects together to support this effort through the Rotary foundation. Robert was a great Rotarian - always the first to lend a hand, be it at The Katonah Pancake Breakfast, selling Christmas trees to raise funds for Polio eradication and high school scholarships (despite sometimes freezing his b...-off during the many years we did this) or in his time with his latest Club in Ridgefield. His enthusiasm and drive was legendary and even after I had left Westchester he stayed in touch and he "pushed" me successfully to do support projects with the RC Ridgefield. He never stopped in the 20 years I knew him to make his community and the world a better place. Even in illness he never stopped thinking of how he could help others and in October he reached out to me and suggested a new joined fundraising project for the Rotary Foundation to me. That was Robert!
We will miss him and his big heart for others!
My thoughts go out to Charlotte!
Rest in Peace, Robert!

Robert and I met at St. James Episcopal Church in North Salem, we had a friendship that spanned almost 2 decades. The best thing about me and Robert? He would challenge and push me to do things that I'd never thought possible. He introduced me to Rotary International, and I'm still a member today. With Rotary I was able to spend a month in Puglia, Italy with a team of young professional women from Manhattan. It was a trip of a lifetime! After that I was able to host so many young professionals from Japan, Germany, Italy, and Luxemburg who I still keep in touch with today. I thank Robert for that. In his own way he told me one day out of the blue "you're hosting a young lady from Italy". and that's how it started. Another wonderful thing, he could go into a grocery store, purchase 3 or 4 items, go home, and cook a gourmet meal in minutes. He taught me about art. I attempted to teach him about the computer and internet, always trouble! We successfully ran the church auction for a few years. We sold Rotary Christmas Trees for many years, I learned how to run the chain saw for trimming the trees as they were sold. We had many adventures together over the years. Too many to write about here. Some were better than others, but that's what a friendship is all about. I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace dear friend.

I was very sad to learn of Robert dying.
We shared many moments together at the Clearwater Festival on the Hudson River.
While we tasked and talked, our connections to Rotary( my father was very involved) and
Fox Lane High( I taught there) came to the fore and the time passed.
We also ran into each other on a number of occasions in the South Salem, Crossriver area,
and we talked about life and family.
Words cannot fill the spaces left by the loss of loved ones, but I have found some comfort in the following.
The Holy Mother (wife of Ramakrishna, a Saint of India) was weeping after Ramakrishna had died. She was
in a distressed meditative state when Ramakrishna came into her Mind and said, "weep not for me, as I
have only moved into another room." My thoughts are with you all at this time. Dale Saltzman
