It was privilege to know and respect Frank (since 1978) as a good friend, colleague at the Senate, and a trusted advisor to me. He introduced me to many of the people I have known and worked with. I always looked forward to his campaign buttons in the mail. My condolences to Gussie and his sons who were his foundation for a good life, and his brother Tom.

In addition to being a exceptional gentleman,
Frank was a medical miracle. He earned every minute, hour, day, week, month and year that he had after the cancer diagnosis so long ago.
His research, negotiating skills and dogged determination to live were essential to accomplishing what no one else I know could have done. He was and is my hero. It was and is a blessing to have had Frank as a friend. We were and are all lucky to know him.

Many years ago, I met someone who worked for the NYS Democrats so I asked if he knew Franny Sanzillo. He gave me an odd look and said he knew a Mr. Sanzillo, and on a good day, he knew Frank Sanzillo but, no, he never met Franny Sanzillo. Well, my husband and I have been blessed to know Franny - a smart, funny, kind and generous man. He was taken from us way too soon and he will be missed very, very much.

Condolences to the family. I (Debbie Corbett) would like to share a memory from the early 1990's. My mother and I took a bus ride from Staten Island to the New York City Lincoln Center for the Christmas performance of the Nutcracker. We were having dinner at a restaurant across from Lincoln Center when Fran walked in, saw us and came to our table to say hello. Mom and I had a nice conversation with Fran. Fran then left while we finished our dinner. To our complete surprise we were later told that our dinner bill was paid by Fran! Totally unexpected, gratefully appreciated and illustrative of a truly generous and thoughtful man.

In a business, where you meet many people but make very few friends, Frank was a trusted confidant.
He was a regular guy who was wise and levelheaded, friendly and funny and a person who you were always happy to be with.
He's leaves a hole in my heart.
My god, I will miss him.

Mr. S was The Man and took Rob, and a few of us 13/14 year olds, to Shea to see the Mets play the Braves in the playoffs in 1999. It was raining and he was able to get us amaziiiiiing seats!! We stayed late into the 14th inning when Robin Ventura hit the, "Grand Slam Single"!! The entire place was literally shaking from the crowd. One of my favorite memories of all time!!! Thank you!!!
