Obituary of Paul J. Tangerman

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, Paul J Tangerman,of Katonah, NY  loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at age 76.  Paul was born May 13, 1946 in the Bronx, NY to Howard and Katherine (McCauley) Tangerman. He attended St. Raymond’s Boys High School and later when he was in the Army, was a dog handler on the DMZ. Afterwards he joined the FDNY and was a firefighter in the South Bronx, a job which he loved and spoke about always. 

Paul loved everything to do with water – fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming and boating; he loved to travel especially on the European river cruises. He enjoyed growing tomatoes, bird watching and nature, and was an avid Yankees fan. 

Paul is the beloved husband of Maureen (Hoynes) of 51 years and father of Christine Keating and Lauren Tangerman, brother to Peter Tangerman of Yorktown, NY and to Joan Sirgant of Sarasota, Fl.

He is the devoted grandfather to Nora and Jack Keating. He is survived by his favorite nieces Claudine Sirgant, Colleen (Hoynes) Holder, Erin (Hoynes) Edwards, Kaitlyn Tangerman, Megan Tangerman and grand-niece Caitlin Holder and grand nephew Miles Eichelberger

Friends may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, New York on Thursday June 16th from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s RC Church, 55 Valley Road, Katonah, NY on Friday June17th at 10am

Interment will be private
