Obituary of John P. Pirc
John P. Pirc, 94, of Cross River, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY.
John was born on September 9, 1928 in Queens, NY to the late Mary and Frank Pirc. He was a first generation American after his parents immigrated to NY from Slovenia.
John obtained an Associate degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. John retired as a Lieutenant after serving 24 years in the New York City Police Department.
John was a faithful Roman Catholic parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption in Katonah, NY, attending mass on a daily basis until the COVID-19 Pandemic, and continuing each Sunday when church re-opened for Mass.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years Mabel (1927-1999), his brother Edward (1925 -1944), and sister Mimi (1923 - 2013).
John is survived by his loving children, Edward (Jill) of Ossining, NY and John (Jenny) of Brewster, NY. He was the devoted grandfather to Jessica Pirc of Cross River, NY, Brian Pirc of Ossining, NY, Charlie Pirc of Victor, ID, Willie (Sydney) Pirc of Scottsdale, AZ, Allison Caulfield of Cross River, NY, and great-grandchildren Dylan and Sadie Caulfield of Cross River, NY
John was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. There was rarely a sporting event of his children or grandchildren that John would not attend, no matter the distance. He was an expert auto mechanic and dedicated church-going family man.
Friends may call or visit Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd,Katonah, NY,on Tuesday, October 18, from 5-8 PM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption RC Church, 55 Valley Rd., Katonah, NY on Wednesday, October 19th at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Queens, NY.
