Obituary of Thomas G. Ferrara
Thomas George Ferrara of Pound Ridge, New York and Kennebunkport, Maine passed away surrounded by his family on October 20th, 2022. He was 67 years old.
Tom was born on December 7th, 1954, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to Isabel Flynn and Arthur Ferrara. Tom grew up in Yonkers, New York and graduated from Iona Prep in New Rochelle. He later pursued advanced degrees at Niagara and Pace Universities. He met the love of his life, Philomena Ferrara, while both commuting to work on Metro North Railroad. They were married in 1983.
In 1987, Tom founded Future Value Associates (FVA), a company he successfully ran for 35 years. His clients as well as employees became dear friends, and those friends became family. Tom’s kind heart and way with words made him incredible at making personal connections with people.
Tom’s true passion was cars and motorcycles, something he taught his grandsons to love as well. His industry knowledge was unmatched, and he spent many years as an automotive author, historian and collector and served as a Board Member of the National Corvette Museum. When not behind the wheel, he enjoyed running and drawing. He participated in marathons, along with the annual Goose Rocks Beach 5k.
Tom’s faith was a pillar in his life. His commitment to philanthropy touched many. He served on the boards of Calvary Hospital and the Fred S. Keller School among many others. He was also affiliated with countless nonprofit organizations and religious institutions over the course of his life.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Philomena, their children Elizabeth (Anthony) Latino, Claire Ferrara (fiancé Brian Kaehler), and Mary Ferrara. Also, his brother Jim (Doreen) Ferrara, his sister Margaret Ferrara, grandchildren Hudson and Thomas Latino, along with many adored nieces and nephews.
There is a scene from It’s a Wonderful Life, Tom’s favorite movie, in which the angel Clarence leaves behind his beloved book inscribed with the words ‘Dear George, remember no man is a failure who has friends.’ By this measure, Tom lived an incredibly successful and faithful life.
Friends are invited to visit the family at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woodsbridge Road, Katonah, NY on Monday, October 24th from 4-8pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 7 Pound Ridge Road, Bedford, NY on Tuesday, October 25th at 10am followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Tom’s memory to Calvary Hospital, an establishment that was close to his heart and where he spent his final days comfortable and close to God. (https://fund.calvaryhospital.org/ways-to-give/give-once/)
