Obituary of Oliver Lednicer
Oliver Lednicer, 88, of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., formerly of Hackensack, N.J., died peacefully at home on May 18, 2023.
He was born in Antwerp, Belgium, on May 29, 1934, to Chaim Lednicer and Chaja Weiner.
Oliver’s parents and older brother, Dan, came to the United States after escaping the Nazis during World War II.
He attended Bronx High School of Science, Cornell University and received a law degree from NYU Law School.
Oliver married Sylvie Lednicer on Sept. 15, 1963. They lived in Danbury, CT, for the first few years of their marriage and then moved to Hackensack, N.J.
He worked for Diamond Match Co., Eagle Pencil Co., American Bank Note Company and Kruysman-Redweld, where he retired as president.
After retirement, Oliver served as chairman and executive director of the Manufacturers Association of New York City (MANYC), became a certified mediator; helped match retirees as mentors to young people entering the workforce; and assisted elderly people with preparing their tax returns.
He was a member of the Westchester Oratorio Society and loved biking, swimming, walking, reading and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvie, whom he doted upon; daughters Lisa of Arlington, Va., and Daniella of Forest Hills, N.Y.; their husbands Drew and Darryl; and his teenage granddaughters Rachel and Valerie, whom he adored.
He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
