To the family of Anthony Mastellons, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I was the dietitian involved in Anthony’s. He was a kind and pleasant person, one of the nicest patients I ever had. Anthony was never condescending and treated everyone with the utmost respect and was always appreciative of the care he received. And no matter what, he always smiled.
Sincerely,
Dina Grgas

My staff and I will sorely miss Tony’s great smile and energy whenever he entered our office. His emails were both humorous and apropos, and we always shared our frustrations about the Mets and Jets. We also shared a love of great food. Rest in peace my friend!

I will miss getting my email jokes and trivia from Anthony. We were friends for a short time here at Heritage Hills and we enjoyed Ciao Italia events and talking about our Italian Traditions. He was so proud of his wife and family. Rest In Peace.

We are compelled to on this solemn occasion to pay our respects and honor the memory of Anthony Mastellone. As I read through the social commentary, I am overwhelmed by the kind words and amount of admiration for this gentle soul. I met Tony for the first time during my medical training at Mary Immaculate Hospital and from the first time I knew he was someone to look up to. At different times during his lifetime, Tony was someone to everybody; a loyal son, a caring father, a loving husband, a devoted grandfather, a stalwart and compassionate doctor, a dedicated teacher and most of all a spirited and trustworthy friend.
Tony is at rest now. His passing has not been easy, but his family and friends have come together to lend their support to each other and lessen the impact. We look around to try to make sense of the grief that we all feel.
To paraphrase a quote from Abraham Lincoln, “how weak and fruitless must be of any words of mine which would attempt to lessen the grief of a loss so overwhelming”.
It is not easy and after all is said and done, in the coming days, when the family is alone in their thoughts, the grief at times will be overwhelming. But they will endure and move on.
But on those times when we feel a breeze upon our face, it shall be his spirit passing by. So let us not forget that even though he has passed, he lives forever in our minds and in our hearts.
Rest in peace my dear friend.
