Obituary of Cosimina Lancia
Cosimina “Mimi” Lancia, of Katonah, NY died peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023 with her children, Linda & Steven Lancia, by her side. She was 92. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid cook, baker and seamstress.
Mimi was born on February 18, 1931 in Strangolagalli, Frosinone, Italy to her parents Guido and Fausta Tomassi. At the age of 26 Cosimina traveled to the United States as an Immigrant and settled in Bronx, NY where she worked as a seamstress.
Cosimina married Mario Lancia in 1958. They moved to Katonah, NY in 1968 where they raised their two children, Steven and Linda Lancia. Nothing made her happier than being a young mother and raising her two children. Cosimina, known as Mimi, is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who was very proud to prepare meals for her children and grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Lancia. Mimi was a good neighbor and friend to many, making so many people smile with her trays of cookies. She was an avid walker and loved to spend time in her garden. She was known for jarring her garden tomatoes to make homemade sauce.
Mimi is survived by her brother Frank Tomassi, his wife, Anna Maria Tomassi her daughter Linda Lancia, of Katonah, NY, her son, Steven Lancia and daughter-in-law Margo Lancia, of Bedford, NY; and her grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Lancia.
A wake will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Friday, July 21 from 3 – 7pm. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 55 Valley Road, Katonah, NY on Saturday, July 22 at 10am. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY.
