Obituary of Vincent Jimmy Fusco
Vincent, “Jimmy” Fusco, 74, of Somers, NY formerly of Mount Vernon, NY died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at home after a long, courageous battle with ALS.
Jimmy was born on October 1, 1949 in the Bronx to the late Vincent and Philomena Fusco. He received his Bachelors degree from Iona College and Masters degree from The College of New Rochelle. He was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring in 2009. Upon his retirement, Jimmy enjoyed some of his happiest years as a doting grandfather to his five grandsons.
Jimmy was predeceased by his beloved wife Maureen and is the loving father of Gregory (Jeanie) of Somers, NY and Vincent (Courtney) of Yorktown Heights, NY and the devoted grandfather of Gregory Jr., Andrew, Anthony, Vincent and Luke. Jimmy is also survived by his sister Elaine (Lenny) DiChiaro of Saugerties, NY and by many nieces and nephews.
Never one to complain, he always put others first and was surrounded by his close network of family and friends. Whether it was playing cards with his cousins or spending time with old friends, Jimmy played the role of confidant and companion. A master at decorating for Christmas and tending to his garden, and was a comfort to all who knew him.
Friends and family may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY on Thursday, October 26th from 4-8 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 95 Plumbrook Rd., Somers, NY on Friday, October 27th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY.
