Obituary of John C. Welsch
John C. Welsch, South Salem Resident for 52 years, passed away after a brief Illness on October 26, 2023. He was 84 years old.
John was born in Rosario, Argentina in 1939 to Esther Herbstzuber and John Welsch. He lived in Buenos Aires until his family lost their home to President Peron’s regime. They relocated to Misiones and operated a tea plantation close to Iguazu Falls, where he found the love for nature in the jungle and on the farm. In 1964, John immigrated to the US, settled in New York and got married in 1969. He was highly talented craftsman and a very hard worker. He became a precision machinist which led him into a long-dedicated career in the robotics and aerospace industry, retiring at 82 years old. He spoke five languages including German, Spanish, Portuguese, Guarani, English and some Italian too. John Loved the outdoors and traveling the US, vacations by the ocean, fishing, gardening, barbecue, auto racing and most of all spending time with his family.
John is survived by his beloved wife Marlene, his son, John, daughter, Jennifer, five sisters, Elisabeth, Irene, Margarita, Annie, Lucy and many nieces and nephews. John had a friendly and fun personality that everyone enjoyed and will be deeply missed. Memories of John in his classic Mercedes will forever keep his journey alive.
