Obituary of Barbara George Sabatino
Barbara George Sabatino, 78, of Somers, NY formerly of Pound Ridge, NY, passed away on Friday November 3rd, 2023 at her home.
Barbara was born on February 24, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the second of three children to Ben and Rose Kramer. She attended Tilden High School, went on to graduate from Barnard College and subsequently became a licensed clinical social worker. Barbara loved working with people, both teens and adults, and her work was very meaningful to her. Early in her career she worked at the Pleasantville Cottage School in Pleasantville, NY and later at Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, CT. She also had a private practice in Mount Kisco, NY for over 25 years.
Barbara was a wonderfully kind and compassionate person, often putting the needs of others before herself, and was always willing to listen and offer advice. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and working in her garden, which was her passion. She loved reading, mysteries, classical music, antiquing, tag sales, pottery and chocolate, and was an expert in knitting and crocheting. She most loved being Grandma to her 7 grandchildren, always bringing them beautiful cookies for every occasion.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Pat Sabatino. She is survived by her stepchildren Emily Ermoian and her husband Glenn and their children Michael, Natalie and James, Patrick Sabatino and his wife Magda and their children Veronica and Patrick, and Susan Sabatino and her husband Terry and their children Erin and Christopher, her sister Joyce Friedman and her husband Jerry, her brother Michael Kramer and his wife Jane, her long-time partner Alan Blumenson, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 8 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd, Katonah., NY at 11:00am
Interment will be private.
