Obituary of Alfred Lenvig Jacobsen III

Alfred L. Jacobsen III, of Bedford Village, New York passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was 90 years old.

He was born in Huntington, Long Island to the late Alfred and Grace Jacobsen. 

Al graduated from Stony Brook School for Boys in 1951; the University of Rochester in 1955 and Cornell Law School in 1958. Immediately following graduation from law school, Al was drafted into the United States Army. Following discharge from the United States Army, Alfred served as a defense attorney for legal aid in New York City. 

He married Lynn Rider, daughter of Jean and Sumner Rider of Huntington, New York.They were married for 61 years. Al is the beloved husband of Lynn and loving father of 5 children (Alfred Jacobsen IV, Erik Jacobsen, Kathryn Kiederer, Jon Jacobsen, and Daniel Jacobsen) and devoted grandfather to 11 grandchildren.

The Jacobsen family moved to Bedford, New York in 1966. Alfred opened his law practice in Bedford Village in 1968. Alfred dedicated his time to serving others and was an active member of our community. A member of the Bedford Village Chamber of Commerce (Bedford Village Business Association); Bedford Village Lions Club; Elder of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Chairman of Property and Maintenance Committee and choir member; and Boy Scouts leader. He was also an active member of the Pound Ridge Community Church. Al enjoyed activities such as fishing, tennis, and camping outdoors.

His family will receive friends on Friday, November 17 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 18 at the Pound Ridge Community Church at 11:00am.

Interment will follow at Chichester Cemetery, Bedford, NY .
