Obituary of Michela L. Bartone

Michela L. Bartone, 90, of Katonah, NY, passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Michela was born on May 2, 1933 on the island of Capri, Italy to the late Umberto Zurlacco and Assunta DeAngelis. As a young adult, Michela was a trained seamstress, working for boutiques on the island.

In 1952, she met and married the love of her life, Dr. Michael Bartone who passed away in 1995.  They settled in Michael’s hometown of Katonah, NY. She was a devoted wife, caring mother to her daughter Lisa, and loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Gianmichael, Liana, and Marina.

Michela never missed any of her daughter’s or grandchildren’s life events. She was always their biggest cheerleader.

Outside of working in her husband’s chiropractic office, she was an avid tennis player with the Katonah Tennis Team, playing well into her 70’s. She was an excellent gardener and an amazing chef.  She loved baking her signature apricot bars in her sunlit kitchen. Her flower and vegetable gardens were the talk of the town, and Michela was found raking her leaves just a week before her passing.

Michela took long walks every day, inspiring her neighbors and friends to do the same. Every summer she would return to her Capri home to spend time with her family and friends there.

Along with her daughter, Michela was an active member of the Katonah Village Improvement Society and in her later years enjoyed participating in the Bedford Senior’s Program.

Michela was Katonah’s and Capri’s quintessential role model on how to live a full, loving, generous, and happy family life. Michela is finally reunited with her husband, and no doubt dancing with the love of her life once again.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY on Thursday, November 30th from 4-8PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 55 Valley Rd, Katonah NY on Friday, December 1st at 10AM.

Interment will be private
