Obituary of Joseph M. Rizzo, Jr.

Joseph M. Rizzo, Jr., 95, passed away peacefully at Northern Westchester Hospital on December 7, 2023.  He was born in Mt. Kisco, NY and resided his entire life in Bedford, NY.  Joseph was the son of Joseph M. Rizzo, Sr. and Jennie Coletti Rizzo.  He graduated from Bedford Hills High School and served in the Armed Forces.

He was a mason contractor and was the founder and owner of J.M. Rizzo & Son, Inc.  His firm built many schools, churches, office buildings and industrial buildings in Westchester County.

In his younger years he was an accomplished guitar player and played in numerous venues in the area.  He also enjoyed flying and piloted his own plane enjoying trips to Ocean City, NJ where he had a summer home.

He was active in many organizations including Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and the PTA and enjoyed outings with his family to Candelwood lake and the Jersey Shore.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Jennie Briguglio Rizzo, who passed away in 2017.  Also predeceased by his daughter, Janice Rizzo DeLaney (husband Gerald DeLaney) in 2018.

He is survived by his son, Joseph M. Rizzo, III (wife Robin Rizzo), 5 grandchildren

Jennifer Buschman, Jason Rizzo, Jillian Rizzo, Joanna Ruvo and Juliette LaGrecca.  He also was blessed with 10 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford Village, NY.  Interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Mt. Kisco, NY.
