Obituary of Joseph F. Iantorno, Jr.

Joseph F. Iantorno, Jr., 88, of Bedford NY passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2023. He was born in Port Chester, NY on September 15, 1935, to the late Guiseppe Iantorno and Antoinette Caminitti Iantorno. He graduated from SUNY New York with an associate degree in Horticulture.

Joe had a great passion for Landscape and Design and the Bedford Fire Department and was a partner in the business Designs by Lee. After retiring from the business, he worked at Perennial Gardens. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Joe was a member of the Bedford Fire Department since 1962, and some of his accomplishments were:  Line Officer 1967-1973, Chief 1973-1975, President 1979-1981, 2009-2010, Chairman Board of Fire Commissioners 1997-2001, 2005-2007, and Grand Marshal of the 100th Anniversary Parade 2023.  

Some other Associations he was involved in were, Westchester County Association of Fire Districts since 1986, and President 1993-1994. Member of Westchester County Volunteer Firemans’ Association since 1986, and Chairman of Fallen Firefighters Memorial from 1990-2023. Member of Westchester County Association of Fire Chiefs since 1969, Director from 1984-2002, 2008-2023, and President in 2002-2005. Member of NYS Association of Fire Chiefs from 1971-2023, and the Westchester County Representative since 1998. Member of Westchester County Fire Advisory Board since 2006.  

Joe was the husband for 63 years of his beloved wife Rita (Brust) Iantorno; father-in-law to Justin Kernan and devoted grandfather to Nicole Riann, Marissa Elise, and Justin Ryan Kernan of Hillsdale NY; brother to Michael Iantorno and his wife Patricia of Florida. And is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Guiseppe Iantorno & Antoinette Caminitti Iantorno and loving father of daughter Cara Iantorno Kernan.  

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 between 10-11am for a brief service and procession to the Bedford Fire House for his Fireman’s Service.
