Viola Fusco

Obituary of Viola M. Fusco

Viola M. Fusco, age 82, of Somers NY (formerly of Commack, NY) passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 19, 2018.  She was born on April 3rd, 1936 in Manhattan, NY to Gennaro and Camilla Gagliano.  She is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband of over 61 years, Mario and her brother, Victor.  Viola is survived by her brothers, Charles (Diane) and Frank (Mary) and her loving children, Rosemarie Abecasis (Robert), Louis Fusco (AnnMarie), Mario Fusco Jr., Carla Jones (Brent), AnnMarie Fuchs (Scott), and Camille Quattrocchi (Vince).  Viola enjoyed time with her 17 beautiful grandchildren Marc Fusco (Rachel), Lisa Chipman (PJ), Jillian Easterlin (Will), Paul Fusco (Nicole), Gregory Fusco (Ipek), Emily Abecasis, Eric Jones,  Christian Jones, Sarah Abecasis, Nicolina Fusco, Mario Fusco III, Julia Fuchs, Kenneth Fusco, Sean Fuchs, Steven Quattrocchi, David Quattrocchi and Luke Fuchs.  She has also been blessed with 6 precious great-grandchildren Ryan, Juliana, Kira, Leonardo, William and Ayla.  Viola began nursing school prior to marrying her true love, Mario and soon after they began growing their loving family.  Viola was a caring, strong and intelligent woman whose faith was of utmost importance.  She taught religious education and was the director of religious education at Christ the King Parish in Commack, NY for many years.  She was also a Eucharistic Minister and devoted her time to many parish ministries.  Viola enjoyed baking cookies for her grandkids, spending time with family, playing her weekly Mahjong game with friends, crocheting baby blankets for her new grand babies and great grand babies, playing scrabble and gardening.  African Violets were Viola’s absolute favorite and she has a beautiful collection of them - she had the special touch for beautifully blooming violets.  She had a great fondness for Mother Cabrini and Our Blessed Mother Mary and followed in their footsteps with charity, faith and compassion.  Viola said the rosary daily; in fact, car rides always consisted of saying the rosary to ensure safe travels.  Faith and family were very important to Viola, as were her precious New York Yankees.  She watched her Yanks as religiously as she said her rosary.  Viola will be missed by so many and may her Faith and charity live on forever in us all.  Viola’s love for her husband, Mario was so strong and so they shall now be joined again in Heaven.
