Obituary of Demetrios M. Basdekis
Demetrios M Basdekis, “Dimitri” 76, of Bedford Hills, NY passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 5th 2018 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, NY.
Dimitri was born on June 19th, 1942 in Evia, Greece to the late Manthos and Fontini Basdekis. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 years. Dimitri was a perennial entrepreneur, and most associated with owning or operating a multitude of small businesses from coffee shops to diners and restaurants.
Dimitri considered his family the greatest of all his accomplishments, never ceasing to share his love and pride of them to everyone and anyone that leant him an ear. He loved classic cars, being close to the ocean, and Myer’s rum. He was extremely charismatic with a great sense of humor.
A devoted husband and father, Dimitri is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter Tiffany and son in law George (Tewfik) of Randolph NJ, and son Matthew, of Stamford, CT. He is the loving grandfather to Charlotte and Jacob Tewfik, and brother to Manthos Basdekis of Athens, Greece.
