Obituary of Greg Dunn
J. Gregory Dunn 66 of Patterson, NY, died Monday, September 23rd 2019. He was the beloved husband of JoAnne Monfradi for 34 years; the loving father of Kaitlin and Alexander; brother to Stephen, Christopher and Kathryn; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Greg is preceded in death by his father Malcolm, his mother Ethel and his brother Russell.
Greg was born September 30th 1952 in New York, NY. He was a graduate of Clark University in Worcester, MA receiving his BA in Political Science. He later completed all but his dissertation for a PhD on Childhood Education at SUNY Albany. Greg was in constant pursuit of knowledge, continuing his education through art classes, teaching himself Spanish and devouring books on every topic from woodworking to Buddhism.
He was a true Renaissance man and entrepreneur. In the course of his career, Greg owned and operated a children’s puppet theater, a restoration construction company, and co-founded a marketing technology company with wife JoAnne. He designed and built the family’s homes and their beautiful properties. In the last several years, Greg became deeply invested in his practice of yoga, well on his way to becoming a certified teacher. His creative pursuits included writing, painting, sculpture, gardening, and any work he could do outside with his hands.
Greg was curious, spiritual, and philosophical. He loved conversation, art, music and food. He encouraged all around him - his family, friends, colleagues and especially children – to explore and question, be kind and curious, measure twice – cut once. His presence will be deeply missed in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY on Monday, September 30th from 4-8PM. Services and Burial will be celebrated at Christ Church on Quaker Hill, 17 Church Rd, Pawling NY on Tuesday, October 1st at 11:00 AM. A luncheon at Christ Church will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Greg’s memory to Reading is Fundamental, a national charity that provides opportunities for children and their families to experience the life-changing impact of reading.
